There's a really good article about Ken and an Allis Chalmers Mod. B he owned that is making it's way to a museum at UNL. My internet is super slow today for some reason and can't open the Omaha World Herald page to copy the link. Great story if someone can post it here. Good pics to.

I watched Ken on a couple videos just a day or so ago. The videos were put out by the "Homestead National Monument of America" on YouTube. Watch the one titled "Wilderness man builds epic cabin in Alaska". Makes a guy proud to claim White as a Cyber-pal!

Thats a very cool story thanks for sharing with us. Glad to hear there is a plan to restore it, hate to see those old tractors get scrapped, so much history with them.

Well, thanks guys ! You may have seen that first picture before. I seem to remember it too.

This tractor "rescue' thing just happened last week. Been in the works for a year or more. Lots of logistics, planning, and weather dependent scenarios. A lot of people involved that gave their time and effort.

In scanning the article site, I came across some neat photos that I liked.

What an amazing life sir Ken has had in this endeavor !

There were other shots in this area but I liked these the best.

Love those wild roses! A nice touch. The care and artistic design considered in the upper story siding...also the log fittings are what work and time are as factored in....the effort in it all....a thing of beauty.

Bear claw marks still seen on the wood- and the stories they tell. Tight lines of window and trim and logs close up.

The present owner -and a glimpse of the walls in beautiful fitting in the backdrop.

This last one-the water indoor pump- is remarkable in planning. Something to be very proud of. Info has it that for decades the locals had been carrying water from the river. Sir Ken had the forethought outside the box to install a well in his home.....the first ever in that part of the country . I say-why live harder- when you can live smarter ?

Look at that cool,clear water.

Well done, sir Ken....I say again- us of Tman Tribe are so proud of yourself.

Some are having difficulty accessing the link to see the article,as I have also , and that has been acknowledged and they are working on it. Hopefully soon it will be worked out to log into and enjoy by all computer programs easily.

You should see the old stone-wheel tractor Ken used back in the Stone Age.

Great article and also some great videos (referenced above) on YouTube. Watching the videos was very interesting and was the next best thing to meeting you in person.

I had no idea you held the title of "Alaska's Last Homesteader".

From what little I know, you seem to have led a very interesting life Mr. Deardorff.

That top link is the old article.

This is the latest one. Pretty neat. We had a model C growing up and a WD. Good ol AC! Thanks for bringing back great old memories.

Anyone interested in a funny book about restoring an old Allis Chalmers from a non mechanic that was also from Nebraska this is a pretty good read.

Found this news story about collecting the tractor.

http://www.omaha.com/news/nebraska/tract...829f1fa2c9.html

I wonder how much it cost to get the tractor there verses the cost to get it out.
