Duke 1.75.

Really though it's tough to say what's "best". It seems that most people that have used just about everything trying to catch coyotes to make a living will say the Sterlings or Jakes. I haven't used either of those but I will say that my favorite all around is the #3 Montgomery dogless currently made by Victor but I like to add a base plate. I'm pretty impressed with the NO-BS K9 exrteme too. Those worked great for me last season. If I needed more traps and could only buy Bridgers that would be ok too.

I was a diehard newhouse guy and the MB 550's have won me over. Bend the dog down a little and set them. Newhouse are great traps but every one of them has a different personality. I was a Gov trapper for 28 years and just started the Mb's last year on my private trapping line. I like the fact that every one you get out of the box to set is the same and no lost time tuning on the trapline.

I'm a Montana #3 fan, but just got a dozen of the Ko extremes at the end of season. Haven't got to set any of them in the field but from what I have seen at home I am beyond impressed. The things are built like a brick outhouse with a steel door!

MB550 w/cast jaws/offset. Strong. Easy setting.

I'm going to buy some this summer. Will sell all the others.

I have had real good luck with #3 dogless Bridgers. I did buy a half dozen of Kendall's Extremes to try this fall.

mb550 rubber or closed jaw. If out in back country then maybe a #3 of some description for strictly coyotes. But im never strictly trapping coyotes.

I can make most any foot trap catch and hold coyotes. The more you pay the less you have to modify them as a general rule. Any double spring foot trap will hold some of the coyotes that step on the pan. What the trapper does with them has the most effect on success or not. 100 dollar coyote traps won't make a beginner a better trapper. Go out and trap coyotes. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIANCE AND ONLY ONE WAY TO GET IT. Go trapping you won't regret it.
