I put a bunch of pogos on some traps several years ago and need to purchase more. I mustve bought then with j hooks installed but cant remember for sure. I just attempted to take off a j hook with a blue pair of j hook/s hook pliers and found i couldnt open it up enough to take it off the 1 1/2 inch washer. I see fnt doesnt sell them instaled so do i need the 20 dollar heavy duty j hook tool or are the newer standard j hook tools enough? The standards look longer than the one i have- no telling how old that is as it was my dads.

You want the ones made by Ron Marsh, or use cable cutters.

i open mine as far as i can with the j-hook tool, then use a 6 inch piece of 1/4 inch pipe on each end and open them up as far as necessary.

With the JH-3 or JH-4 to open the hook farther. After the first standard opening move place the tool on the end of the bend and close the tool again. This way you can open the hook to almost straight.

Thank you for buying my tools

When making pogos I open the new J Hook slightly with a J hook tool.

I see many use washers with 1/4 inch opening. The wsshers i have are only 3/16, same as the j hook itself

You can get the j-hook straight enough to get it in but the problem the would be closing it. Been there done that. Best to use 1/4 x for the washer. Buy them by the box from auto body store.
