I am a security officer and I work 1800 to 0600 Wednesday through Friday. I was wondering if I would have enough time to set traps, check them, do all of the other things that are required? If so would you suggest that I get insurance? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I work from 0000 to 0700 hours 6 nights a week and trap from 0700 to roughly 1500 hours 7 days a week. Been doing this for some 25 years, I wouldn't change a thing. Definitely get insurance (I would recommend Bob And Sons insurance at 260 726-3718). Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

I'm a full time dad, kids, sports, and what ever else my wife throws in the mix. Along with that, construction on the side when I have time, LEO, Wildlife Control, bait & lure. If you want it, go for it. The only one who could determine your drive and the ability to handle the schedule is you. Have to be a go getter in this industry.

If your drive and motivation is there you can make just about anything work within reason.

I'd say you have plenty of time to run an ADC business, as long as you have the drive to do it. I don't know what all you have going on in life, but having 4 free days a week is a huge plus. Running traps on the 3 days you work shouldn't be too hard, because you have a few hours that you could run traps in the morning or afternoon. If that doesn't sound like something you want to do, then maybe you could modify your trapping schedule.

It's all up to you. If you want it, you can make it work.

You will loose jobs without insurance.
When you have guys work on your house, don't you ask if they are licensed and insured?...well many homeowners ask us ADC guys the same.
I'd say you have the time and should go for it.

Though I am and believe if in business you should be insured.

The honest truth is that outside of commercial entities, not a sole homeowner has
asked me for proof, thus insurance is something you should have, frankly
the day a residential client asks to see mine they are going to be a pass for me lol!

My proposals state we are fully insured and can provide proof or documents if desired.

Every commercial entity has needed to see it and be named additional insured.

Off topic a bit but...

Scenario......(which never happened to me, but I now guys it happened to)
Doing a bat job, while inspecting for the poo in the attic, you mis-step and fall thru the ceiling onto the bedroom dresser, and break a Ping Dynasty vase......Can you cover the cost out of pocket? THAT cost his insurance $25k.

...another guy fell thru ceiling and onto chair in Man Cave, which bounced him into a gun cabinet, requiring 8 gun stocks needing refinished/restored/repaired....

THIS, is why insurance is wise.

We never know when an accident can occur.

It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

PS--it could have been Zing or Ling or ?????? Dynasty vase, I can't remember.

Traprjohn,

As I said in my post, I believe all professional companies should carry insurance. I certainly do, for my clients benefit of course and yes the type that covers you for those types of accidents you listed as well. No argument here you should carry it, was mainly speaking to your statement about homeowners wanting to know you are insured and ultimately the fact that any company can say yes and not be asked to provide proof.

Yes get insurance, because you should have coverage for your clients benefit certainly but also to protect you.

Whether part time or full time, you can still have potentials for issues that would benefit you to be covered for. Certainly.

That would be a "Ming Dynasty" vase, some of the most beautiful pottery works in all of China's history and can fetch prices into the millions. A $25,000.00 Ming Dynasty piece is at the low end of the price spectrum.

True, unless it was Qing, which started in 1644, after the Ming....I was ignorant about the subject so looked it up!..lol!

I do know it was a "lower end" vase that was broken.

Thanx
