To avoid it, Ham sold the Ark for $10 to a non-profit company he runs to get around the fee.

So is there something illegal about that? If the town makes an exemption for non-for-profit entities, why not take advantage of the exemption that they offer? Maybe there's more to it than you can explain in a couple of sentences. But if this move was illegal, is the prosecutor making charges? Or is the city filing suit?

I never said it was illegal. I merely pointed out that addictedangler was accurate in his description of the events in Williamstown (except maybe for his use of the word "swindler", since it wasn't illegal).

I do believe it was pretty sorry of that "Christian" man to dump millions of dollars of extra police and ems costs on the good folks of Williamstown with his project, and then weasel his way out of paying for them.

I happen to believe that evolution and God can go hand-in-hand. Even Einstein believed in "guided evolution".

Answers in Genesis shared Ken Ham's post.

MEDIA AND BLOGGERS OUT OF CONTROL RE: ARK

You may have read media reports and blogs that have misrepresented and/or lied about AiG's dealings with local officials who have imposed a new city tax that places almost the entire tax burden on our ministry. Here is what we are sharing with the media when they ask us about the matter:

"Because the new ordinance passed by the City of Williamstown essentially singled out the Ark Encounter to shoulder nearly all the burden for additional safety services that will benefit the entire community and not just the Ark, and because of the ordinance's wording concerning exemptions to the safety fee, we needed to keep our options open to protect the organization for the future. We have always said we want to pay our fair share for safety services, and believed we had made a highly reasonable counter proposal to the city council.

"It has always been our desire to be a partner in helping to grow the economy of a community that welcomed us so kindly. We are saddened that the city council did not extend the courtesy of discussing this ordinance with us before passing it and taking it public, and was not willing to negotiate further.

"We are thankful that even with over a million Ark guests who have come to Williamstown in just over a year, the number of calls from the Ark Encounter for emergency services has been quite small"

There are always two sides of the story Buck, and adict. The ark encounter was willing to pay 500,000.00 per year and it was not enough. The city wanted .50 per ticket which would put the total closer to 700,000.00 per year. So I dont think they were weaseling out of anything.

In the end, they weaseled out of all of it, though.

Again I don't think they weasled out, as you put it. Sounds to me like the city is the one who is weaseling. A special tax for one business that is by the way bringing in lots of people to you're city who would not otherwise be there. You would have thought the city would have had some for thought on this issue instead of trying to impose it on them after the fact! But alas the issue is not over, that I am sure of

Weasel out. W-e-a-s-e-l

Why did he use a for-profit company to start this Ark project in the first place? Sounds to me like another Jim Baker. I'd like to see what kind of salary his non-profit he sold it to for $10 is paying him.

Yep, just looked it up. Ken Ham's salary from the Genesis Scam Project BEFORE he ever even opened the Ark Encounter was $161,000 in 2015. No telling what he's getting paid now that the Ark Encounter is raking in tens of millions.

Good work if you can get it.

Good grief Buck. You and addict would make good little socialists. So, let's say you start a business in town. You went through the entire process, permits and all. You open up and get the thing rolling. The city then comes to you and says, oh by the way,we need to tax you specificly. Don't come to you and negotiate, just ram it down you're throat. Do you just roll over?

Socialists?

I'm not the guy who was making $161k off a "non-profit". Are you now agreeing that Ken Ham is a capitalist running a business?

By the way, Ham is getting free police, fire, and ems service at taxpayer expense for his scam project.

TALK ABOUT SOCIALISM

Might as well give him a SNAP card, too.

Hey, if folks want to stuff Ham's pockets with money to see his Ark, that's fine. But the good people of that town shouldn't have to pay for the extra expenses his little money making project is producing.

History is not religion. It just is. But believing the Biblical account or believing the evolution account are two different religions. Both can not be proved beyond doubt, so pick your religion.

Incorrect. It is simply a matter of interpreting what the Bible means by "day".

So you subscribe to "The Gap Theory"???

No. I subscribe to the theory that the creation story was meant to describe the sequence, not an exact chronology.
