How could that happen? Not enough security at the border? Just saying.

Knee jerk reaction....closing areas that tested positive. The plague is common in prarie dog towns out west, and if you are in those areas and get to feeling bad, go to the doc, it is easily cured with antibiotics. Just don't be stupid about it!

That stinks. Makes me wonder if it started there or here. The news yesterday stated there is a case of positive plague in central nm.

We have it happen ever so often in dog towns...

Great place to catch bobcats and badgers, just have to pay attention...

No dogs, back out... PDQ

Had a guy from Gillette Wy contract it from a cat he caught, about twenty years ago. One of those guys that wouldn't go to the doc....I'll beat it myself! He died from it, but there wasn't a need for that to happen. I've trapped in those same areas, and If I got to feeling sick, go and tell the doc what you been doing, it'll save your life!

That particular bit of nastiness has been around there for decades. Possibly remnants of efforts to wipe out the Indians.

Celebrating 600+ years of bubonic plague. I used to have a t-shirt with that on one side when I was in high school in 80s. Other side said rat is back and ready to party.

He was from Sheridan, wy, I talked to lady that knew him. Found out later the cat wasn't in season, he skinned it with no gloves on.
Was in bar with friends night before, told them he thought he had the flu, went home, wife woke up next to him in morning, he was already turning dark, dead

These kinds of diseases will become more prevalent with the increase in climate temps in the future. We are seeing the changes right now.

Boco, I don't believe that for a moment! Plague has been around forever. Hanta virus worries me a lot more than plague.

How can you deny it?Tick bourne limes disease is now in North Bay and Sudbury, where there was never any deer ticks, let alone tick bourne diseases before the climate started noticeably warming around 35 years ago.It coincides with the spread north of southern animals like the coon and deer that could not survive the long colder winters of 30 to 40 years ago.

Maybe a big plague outbreak will get the use of foot traps back? When I was a kid growing up in Chicago the weekend TV commercials were all about "getting you piece of the West!" Arizona land ads all of the time never ending it seemed like.

I always tried to watch for it, I think a Prairie dog town I drove through with atv in wy got wiped out, had me worried about coyote there. Always wear gloves when skinning
