No It's because a otter won't give up It's hide like a greasy azzed coon.
But your right those otter that have been In storage for 2 years do have a tendency to pull apart.

I also don't understand why some one would freeze rats and then thaw and skin them later.

That's the beauty of the machines, they save time and effort so you can skin your catch fresh every day. wink Fresh coons and coyotes give up their hide a lot easier if you can skin the day you catch them.

Fresh, warm coon peels like a dream. I got stuck with the others.

90% of the time you are going to be skinning day old coon since most of our coon will have to dry for a day or so till we can skin them.
Then when you get a few years on you a Skinner Is a must.
