Cable Restraint ,old Indian word for "There goes my coyote" .
Really? My buddy and I caught 22 coyotes last year using CRs. We lost 2 due to the BAD letting go. That problem has been addressed and I'm sure we won't lose any more. And since we went to a different cable we didn't get any chew outs last season. While I would rather be using lethal methods the CRs are working out OK.

Agreed. Those not using CR's are missing out on some good action. In fact I have 2 aquaintances that have pretty much left the footholds in the garage and run CR lines instead. Partly their preference, but they are putting up fir. As for the foot snares, I haven't tried them yet, so can't speak for them personally.

Thanks Newt.
I've done a lot of listening when the right people talk. Your one of them.
But I sure wish we could use lethal methods. I think the critters deserve better. I've caught a few dogs In lethal type snares and they just sat down and were just waiting to be released.
The problems with CRs Is you have to pass up all those hot locations do to entanglement. But adapt or sit at home.

Cable Restraint ,old Indian word for "There goes my coyote" .
I don't know what kind of CR y'all are required to use but, down here , we call them live market snares as that's the only time we use them. Anyway, when built right , you shouldn't lose any. 1x19 3/32 cable with a barrel swivel as close to the loop as you can get it is the main key to resisting chewouts.
If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Will not go the expence. I have no idea -but i'll say this. The adverage trapper/snarman is buying the cheepest cable restraint he can. Which is made of chinesse 3/32" 7x7 cable.Probly 90% or better. I see you guys are building or buying quilty snares/cable restraints.

Newt, quality equipment is cheap insurance to keep my $75-$100 coyote sitting there.

They work just as well if not better then a foothold trap. They hold very well so pullouts are non-existent with coyote Fox and bobcat. For remake you detach snare from anchor with the quick connect. Place new snare on the anchor and set foot snare. Bed trap and place cable on the correct way. Cover trap, Add what you want. Backing, bait, lure, urine, etc. I'm going to try the Belisle "Selective" out here on a permit. What's your anchor setup look like for the Belisle foot snare? I'll likely be using earth anchors with a JC Conner spring. How do you connect and swivel this bar style quick connect?
