If your spending money, look at Nick's Custom Boots. Hand built to your specific foot. The most comfortable boot you will ever wear, I guarantee. Cost about $550 and a 6 month wait. I wear them 12 hours a day and don't really think about needing to take them off.

Get the USA made version, they are about 250.00
I believe boot number is 309

I went through 3 sets of boots on concrete and metal grating before I finally wised up and realized I didn't really need a boot.
I tried Timberland Pro composite low top breathable NON-waterproof sneakers. They were fantastic and I turned a few co-workers onto them.
One guy said "They are like walking on baby seals."

Thorogoods were horrible for me. Total agony working in those boots.

Nowadays it just don't pay to be a good 'ol boy.

Keen for me, although I have worn Carolina's that were exceptional. I like a low boot myself.

When I worked construction I preferred Georgia Boots. I wore mine 300+ days a year.

Rocky # 6114. Water proof for year or so. No insulation but wear them 365 days a year. Soles are kind of slippery on ice and the laces break in a year or so but for $125 there my favorite for the last 15 years. Tried many others.
Your feet will tell you which boots they like!

When I worked for the US Forest Service many years ago, I was required to wear steel toe boots. I wore a logger style boot made by Lehigh for years then I went to wearing Mason brand loggers for several years. They were both comfortable and would actually last long enough to wear out instead of falling apart like most boots do these days. Don't have much experience with steel toe footwear in recent years but I do know that even though boots cost 3-4 times what they did in the eighties the various brands of non safety boots that I have worn over the last 25 years, I havent been able to find any that wouldn't fall apart well before they wear out. Very disappointing.

I got rid of my redwings and went with a pair of Georgia’s. I’m much happier now. Everybody has different feet and what is comfortable for one may not work for another. Seems that I always prefer a wedge type sole, especially on hard surfaces.

Keen’s. They are nice and wide in the toe also!
