I just got December's ffg and in the fur market report it said certain buyers will b paying 3 to 5 dollars for heavy winter fox and gray squirrel, my whole life its all wAys said a buck for squirrels, who are these specialty buyers?

Probably the speciality market. Most likely they have certain requirements as to what they want as far as put up goes - good complete tails, feet/claws on the pelt, no damage, etc. and it is probably only for limited quantities.

Fox squirrel and grey squirrel are NOT fur market items. Send them to NAFA and you will probably get 50 cents!!

Ok thanks for the hint wissmiss it said they need claws on, well hopefully we can figure out these specialty markets we are plagued by squirrels here there was six up on the porch yesterday in the bird feeders

Wow great article, we can only snare beaver here tho. I did really good catching them in 110s with a peanut on the trigger smeared with peanut butter it works every time, that was the first animal I ever trappedwen I was 9

Tanned fox squirrel pelts are selling @ $20 in various fly tying stores, just a tail $4-5.
On ebay right now tanned fox squirrel pelts are listing $39-$49 and pine squirrel for $83.
The best markets may not be the best known auctions. Fly tyers will pay over $100 for a special chicken skin, they pay what is necessary to obtain the special materials wanted for a specific fly.
