Last year we made the trip from Mid Michigan to Northern Kansas to trap coyotes, cats, coons and badgers. We had a lot of learning to do to trap there but we managed to be successful. Even more than the full traps we had a blast meeting great people and enjoying the wide open spaces!

Jason and I will be going back to Kansas on January 1st with Brian and Shane to put our Kansas trapping knowledge tot he test. We will keep you all posted as we are able to with limited internet.

Here are some of the pictures from last year.

We added our trap tags to a couple of fence posts on the properties we trapping. intend to continue that tradition as long as Kansas lets me back.

Met the nicest game warden. He met us in Concordia to tag my cat and sat down for lunch with us. He was very helpful and is a trapper too.

Good lord...I've had them crater out a good number of traps, but that one might take the cake. Furminator if your travels take you through Beatrice, NE let me know. Always like meeting people off trapperman. I've got a guy coming from Chicago this year. It'll be an experience I'm sure.

Will be looking for you! Keep her on the straight and narrow!

Todd Robinson is one of the best. Great guy to have for a warden!

I trapped SW Kansas a few years ago, absolutely loved every minute of it! Would love to head back there, or maybe try Nebraska or South Dakota.

Beatrice? I've been there a number of times auto wrecking for old car parts-great area!! Always wondered how trapping would be around there-it looked like great country to trap.

Where about in Kansas do you go?

I go out every other year to the Glen Elder and Beloit area to archery hunt whitetails and have always wanted to trap in that area. I look forward to seeing your photos of your trip. Goo luck.

This is gonna be cool, and I'm looking forward to your pics. Good luck! One question, how do you buy a license on Monday, January 1st? Online, or are issuing agents open Monday?

Harold I will try to do a better job this year at keeping you posted lol

My plan is to use my phone as a hot spot and upload pictures that way. I am unable to post pictures directly from my iPhone and I surely don't want to use photobucket.

I was worried about that. Last year the system was down for like 2 months. Mine wouldn't print 2 days ago and they had to reboot the system. Not at Walmart but at another vendor.

They had trouble but the bugs were worked out. We were able to get our license.

It was a long cold drive with temps at minus 16 but there were not many cars on the road. We drove all night and got camp set up. We opted to start settling big rather than nap so we got a good start on a couple of properties.

After being awake for 40 straight hours bed felt good even though the furnace quit in the house.

I hope to provide some catch updates in the next couple days.

supposed to get above freezing during the day in a week or so. Keep that in mind when bedding your traps. ground might thaw and freeze.

All of our sets are getting waxed dirt so that should help. I am preparing to be bombarded by coons and possums on the weekend.

Have fun guys! A bit of a warmup heading our way over next several days, expect the coon, skunk, and possum back out in force. May even get the badgers back out above ground, I saw a few days forecasted to be in 40s, and that's a huge change from the sub-zero temps we have had so much of lately.

We have had most mornings in the single digit and the daily temps have been in the teens and twenties.

Starting today we are moving to a warmer trend and will have highs this week in the thirties, forties and fifties.

That one don't count....you wrong footed it! But I will not hold it against you, catch'em any way you can. Had a 24 lb. tom this morning myself but no photographer to get a shot of it with me in it.

Looks like you are having fun. Congrats!

Oh just wait for today. Grinners we’re running last night and they must have been hungry. Five stinking grinners in a handful of sets. Nothing worse than seeing your best bobcat set destroyed and there lies a grinner

I agree Harold, they should have their tally docked for a wrong foot catch, lol...

The fur looks pretty good on the coyotes your posting, much rubbing out there yet? Last 6 or 7 have all been rubbed here, love late season trapping for those landowners that "you have to keep happy" crazy

Good luck tomorrow guys.

Their talking about another storm coming in later this week. Coyotes will be moving, you should have the grinners cleaned out by then.

Today we trapped a couple skunks, a couple coons, a few possums and I snared a coyote. (First cable coyote for me)

I am very optimistic about the coyote movement over the next two nights!

After driving all night to get back home today I don't have the capacity to post the pics of the end of our trip. (Will post some tomorrow.) I will say though that we had a great time and thank you for following along with us!

I always love trapping out of state or out of the home area, something awesome about nothing to think about or deal with other than 'the line'.
