Mike did you get your snares from a feller named Jackie in Hazen,AR? Those look like the ones I get from him.

Thanks all! The pelt was 32" long, unstretched. Both otters were males.

I wouldn't have wanted this one in the snare much longer, it must have been doing some serious rolling:

That's 14 gauge wire it wrapped around 3/32" cable. I was setting for beaver and had tied the snare extension off to a sapling, but I was afraid a beaver might chew it off so I ran a length of wire from the extension to a downed log for cheap insurance. All that really accomplished was to give an otter something to tangle up in. I think it would have broken the cable here if given enough time.

Osky,

Vehicles are allowed, but a lot of places are steep enough that the only way to get into them is with a four wheel drive pickup or an ATV. A bicycle would work great on the main roads but the terrain is just too steep to really make them an effective tool on the ATV trails. I've got it pretty slick right now trapping along the creek though, I can pull the car up to within a hundred yards of sets. It's a lot easier than walking in to the field.

That sure is a pretty coyote and looks alot more "fluffY" than I would think a Arkansas coyote would look. That mange is downer, but from the picture you posted it still looks like a good candidate for tanning for the wall.

No sir, I don't know him. Those are just Dakota Line's coon/beaver snares.
