Anyone kept good records to know if there is a direct relationship between the full moon nights and coyote catches? I have always wondered if they move more or less or if it really matters.

I don't know much but I think before and after a storm front has more influence on animals then moon phases do . Just a thought?

Better do everything perfect with traps, and don't like full moon at all for snaring. It gives the sight edge to the yote, and they don't need any help!

Like Lee said, it has a definite affect on snaring.

Brighter nights = less land predator movement.

Full/almost full moon, but heavy cloud cover = fair predator movement.

Dark nights = excellent movement.

Beaver and otter move good on bright nights.

I can't stand a bright night. Almost don't want to check traps the next morning.

Full moon almost brings snaring yotes to a stop. Not to bad in the first and last quarter though.

We have had a very large moon here the past few nights and checking my line shows considerable less dog movement and one one bobcat out and about.

Was awful bright out here last night. Waiting for my daughter to get back from town with my truck and I will be heading out to check my snares and few traps I have out. I know the fox were moving, seen 3 of them running the road edges late last night.

When It's winter In the north the predators move every night weather there Is a full moon or not. They have to eat and they have to eat more when It's cold.

WE caught 2 coyotes today and saw plenty of new tracks and we had a full moon last night.

I can't see my snares In broad daylight I doubt that they would be any more visible On a moon lite night.

Gary, you ain't trappin the same kinda habitat as out here. I can guarantee in open conditions like I snare in, it makes a world of difference. Besides, you couldn't see my snares, your blind from running all that 7018!

I hear ya buddy. We are snaring huge areas of set a side and restored prairie ground. Lots of good cover to hide a cable.

In fact I ran some yesterday (7018 that Is) It was so cold In the shed I couldn't see since my hood was all steamed up. LOL

Went to a pancake years ago to save my neck, and a side benny is that your nose isn't in the same spot as the lens. They will still fog, but much better than a regular hood!

They move about the same amount but they can see a lot better during full moon . Snares will probably show up better especially if shiny. What the Beav said above has more to do with movement!

Just got done checking mine, picked up 1 more red fox which I was kind of expecting- they have really been moving this last week. No new coyote activity at any of my spots last night, but a couple wolves crossed the one section.

Thanks for all the input. It really seems to matter what part of the country you are from. Wooded areas would be much different then our flat prairie land.
