Ok, I know it’s cold right now, and maybe that’s the problem. But my fox pro will just stop after 20 to 30 min. Acts like it just freezes up. I can warm it up in the truck before the next set and it will work. Will calls freeze up in these temps or is there something wrong with my call.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

can you rubber band hand warmers around the battery compartment , or lithium batteries go colder but about -4 most batteries stop.

I was going to try the hand warmer thing next time.

I have used hand warmers from the time I had cassette callers when it got cold. I place the caller in a soft side 6 pack cooler and point it with the speaker out the top. Leave the cover on as much as you can. With enough warmers it will keep playing inside that insulated cooer.

Have extra batteries ready for the next set . I have them for the caller and remote .

I have the same problem with my remote, but it only seems to happen in the daytime any explanations? I know how to fix it, it just seems strange.

I know how to fix it, it just seems strange. often windier during he day , wind can have a huge effect on blowing the little bit of heat away that was keeping it running also at night your probably running back-lit display using more current producing more heat. we are running on the edge of working vs not working a few degrees internal temp can make it work vs not in interesting test would be to wrap the caller except the horn in foam insulation and tape make a flap to access controls and do the same for the remote leaving a flap for the controls and using clear plastic as an air gap over the screen and then try them and see if they work better. if you test that and find it works better and colder than before , how long before manufacturers have thermal cases with zipper openings for the controls add in room to put a few hand warmers in the zippered thermal case and you could go really cold.

i think at -4 there is so little moisture that it is unlikely to be an issue
your more likely to get moisture taking a freezing cold remote and walking into the warm house where the moisture in the air will condense on the cold remote
also your not trying to even get the remote above freezing just not sub zero if you go the remote to 29 it would work better than -4 and there would be no chance of condensation although the hand warmers don't seem to give off moisture they heat through rapid oxidization of the material inside when exposed to air.
does your remote screen fog up when you keep it inside your coat on the way to and from a set?

I will say I do not have an electronic call, keep looking at them , I am an electronics tech so I am thinking of things I have done to make other battery powered electronics work in the cold.
some insulation is often all that is needed to keep them running much longer , and not leaving them in the truck at night.

Is the call actually turning off or is it loosing connection with the remote? Mine started acting up last night. If I had it on 40 volume after about 5 minutes it would drop connection with the remote. When it drops connection it stops working because there is not a sound selected on the caller either. Happened 2 times last night and I can not just turn the remote off and back on to make it reconnect. However by not turning the volume over 32 it did not happen again. The call also has a glitch on 34-40 volume on the high pitched sounds. Very frusturating and foxpro had already had the call back for the glitch last year in which they told me the call was fine and it was my batteries. I knew it was not the batteries.

your gun gets damp when you bring it into the warm house and the moisture in the house condensates on the cold gun.
if it warms up slow because you bring it in in the case and let it warm while you make supper then take it out of the case and wipe down it reduces the moisture.
we leave our guns outside all day when hunting , I have a cousin who stores his gun in his truck all season never brings it in the house probably a good idea for him he isn't much for cleaning his guns or wiping them down regular
if you unit glitches on 34-40 and you make it colder that may open that range up to 32-40 components change value some in extreme cold or hot
does it glitch if you have it warmed up in the house and try 34-40 ?
it could also be that 34-40 is where the power draw exceeds what your batteries can do , and in the cold that is 32
if you can go to 35 or higher on fresh batteries inside it might very well be a power draw that causes the unit to shut down and you have to restart to get going again.
if that is the case and Fox pro used a bench power supply to feed it full voltage and current for their testing it could explain why they say it is good and you say glitch at 34-40
lithium batteries might change this , lithium batteries give a higher current output till they are much closer to dead

lithium batteries might change this , lithium batteries give a higher current output till they are much closer to dead It does run fine warm. I also do not bring it in when it is cold so it does not draw mositure. It has the glitch with brand new lithiums as well as alkaline. They claim to have tested it with their batteries and told me to use theirs but apparently they did not pay attention that it also glitches on their batteries. I think they tested it warm. It still kills dogs. We called 4 and shot 3 last night.

it is very possible you are reaching the limits of the batteries
finding a way to warm the unit up like insulation and possibly hand warmers or carry extra batteries for every set and keep them in an inside pocket where you will keep them warm

I would try a hand warmer as well! Which call do you have? Mine is the Fox pro inferno. I'm thinking of useing a tanned badger pelt to make a furry bag to put it in and see if that helps. Maybe throw a hand warmer in it also.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
