I have a Hobart 140. Not a bad welder for the price. However I have had an issue with solenoids or the contact points in them sticking when I hit my switch to activate or deactivate the welder when I am welding. Just clean the contacts abit and it is usually ok for awhile.

Not sure on what you will be welding but for a 135 check out the Eastwood 135 mig very good welder for the price also has the gas set-up. I replaced a old miller 135 with this welder and I was impressed ( mosty body work on old cars) plus all parts are available for it. Check Jegs they sell the eastwood 135 and no shipping looks like it is on sale for 269 and has plenty of reviews on eastwood site.

Yeah, I keep my eye on craigslist. I am about 2 hours from st louis. Plus on big or expensive items I prefer to spend the extra and buy new. Although if the right deal pops up I could be swayed to buy used.

I have bought some really nice welders off Craigslist for half the new price or better. My dad gave me his Hobart 110v welder several years ago. I use it for my keep the farm neighbors happy welder. I can lug it around with a heavy duty extension cord for repairs in the out buildings. I use flux core wire in it. I have a Lincoln Power MiG 350 for my bigger projects

Have a Hobart 140 here, about 5 years old. Machine has got a fair amount of use with both flux core and gas, never had any issues. Grat for hobbiest stuff...treestands, trap mods, headache rack, trailer mods, etc, etc.
