anybody have a recommendation of a good brand of insert? I want one with a blower.
Space is pretty open about 36 inches wide. Tired of seeing all the heat go up the chimney from my wood burning fireplace!

I do a lot of fireplaces, "fireplacextordinair" is what I think is one of the best out there .

I have a Lopi insert I found on craigslist. It has it's pluses and minuses. Plus: It has a thermal controlled blower so the fan won't blow until the stove is up to tempature and shuts off when the stove gets cold so it's not blowing cold air in the middle of the night when the fire goes out. Minus: I wish it was a catylitic stove so it would burn longer. My other stove(not an insert) is a Blaze King with a cat and will burn 8 hours on pine and 12 with ash. I use it more than the Lopi because of the wood economics.
Money can't buy everything...but, it can buy me a boat.

8 inch chimney liner now I have this clunker installed now....came with the house. https://www.efireplacestore.com/sup-wct2...um=JAN-689-3107how big is your liner? if its bigger than 6x6 get a steel liner put in, you can't control the draft with an airtight stove and a big liner. RR

thanks for the info. Sounds like I need a liner and insert installed. Pay attention to RR's advise. Most fireplaces use 12"x12" flues, wood burning stoves require much less. I was in the fire service for over 30 years, a vast majority (over 90%) of chimney fires were fireplace chimneys that were being used with inserts.

Chimney Sweep spec my liner for my stove. Got an Olympic liner. Warranty is transferable to another owner and is covered for 3 chimney fires. My stove is an older country flame. Stove was free, new glass and gaskets ran $40. $800 on liner 6 years ago.
