I have been catching large coyotes for years. I really have not thought too much about coywolves, but wonder if I have ever really caught one? Anybody else really keep up with what you are catching is a coywolf?

Hard to tell the difference between a big coywolf or a small wolfcoy .
laugh

We have more wolves than coywolf's . laugh

And less wolfcoys . laugh

I heard most of Wisconsin's wolves are probably more accurately coywolves. As such...they're invasive and can be exterminated.

I shot a werewolf once, but it turned back into a coyote when I walked up on it?

Had someone catch one down the road from me and he had to call the game warden to make sure it wasn’t a wolf cause it was so big

if they have coyote features and you could make a reasonable argument they are just a big coyote , call it a coyote
if you can't decide call the warden and make him decide

just don't suggest they are anything other than Coyote or wolf or we are bound to spend 2 decades in court trying to figure out what percentage constitutes a coyote and what percentage a wolf.

next thing you now they will want a DNA test before dispatch.

I think there is considerably more Canis familiaris DNA, than Canis lupus DNA in "coywolves".

My dog Eli used to breed coyotes.

Black wolves have been genetically proven to have inherited those color genes from dogs. I doubt that there is a wolf on the planet that does not have some dog DNA.
