Nessmuck I still want to learn how to shave with them razors. I taught myself in 2009... just watched a bunch of you tube videos and joined a forum called Straight Razor Place...learn a lot there too.

Nessmuck I still want to learn how to shave with them razors. Hardest part is getting past the awkward phase of holding the razor... And learning to shave the left side of my face using my left hand. After that it's easier than using a Gillette. And gives a better shave. I've never nicked myself worse with a straight than I did with a safety razor. Mike

I used to treat myself to a shave at the barber shop once in a while. Hot damp towels wrapped around my face for a few minutes, lathered up with a brush, then a shave with a straight razor. None of them will do that anymore that I'm aware of. Been told it's a health code violation unless a new disposable is used.

I just had a straight razor shave at the barber last week. Face stays smooth for a few days.

I get my hair cut once a month. Includes a shave and line up with a straight razor, face balm and hot towel.

i love to sharpen as well. mostly knives, have thought about getting a razor to work with just for the fun of it.
I dont shave.

I enjoyed the hot towel wrap the most. Face is baby but smooth after. Like tweed said, "life's little luxuries".

You are correct....they use feather blades ( disposable bladed type straight razor )

Last night I did a 3 pass Shave.....North to South...relather...up stroke ,south to north....relather...then Sideways .....won't have to shave for 3 days.....BBS = Baby Butt Smooth .....No bleeding tonight ..!

I was thinking about getting a straight blade so I asked Pedro (my barber) how to start. He suggested to shave a few balloons. Once you can consistently do that without popping or knicking them try your face...or your brother's face

There's a lot of guys like you Bic...that grab a plastic razor and shave in the showah....nothing wrong with that...I just embrace the old school way...take my time..make some lather,put the badger hair brush to my face...and wield that big piece of steel ovah my skin....cus I can !!
