Any ideas on this pan? It is on a US Fish & Wildlife 3n.

I saw this on EBay few weeks back and magnification made stamped V look like it had been added to standard pan afterward. Stamped V was not centered and almost ran into the number 3...not typical of factory work.
3N pans came with V cutout or stamped V, but I have not seen both on same pan from factory. Even official ADC 3N replacement pans from Pocatello Depot came with big stamped V (well centered and spaced out from number 3); but no cutout V.
Between 1956 and 1986, USF&W bought train carloads of 3Ns for wide distribution.
My guess is this was a trapper or special project mark?

Many are still in Gov't use. Many ended up in private hands with property of ground off. I have seen dozens stacked up at state warehouses. I have over 100 with various stampings in my collection.
3Ns were the most popular coyote/bobcat trap ever produced. 80% went to Southwest states.
