For a rifle a Remington 541s. For handguns, an early S&W model 41 with a 5 1/2 heavy barrel (LOTS of squirrels and rabbits and a few grouse) and a S&W model 14 no dash, 38 special. When you smack'em with that gun they stay smacked.

I've owned a lot, but my favorites are definitely the Browning SA22 I've had all my life and my new Henry pump .22. The browning is super accurate, but a little picky on what rounds it will eject/feed. You can put anything through the Henry.

I thought this would have been dominated by the Ruger 10/22.

Mine was an Ithaca 49. I loaned it to my uncle who was a drunk. He sold it to get whiskey money. A few years back I acquired one from a pawn shop cheap, but it was in rough shape. I stripped it down completely, tru oiled the wood, polished the receiver, and coated the barrel/lever/etc with black duracoat. I carry it while trapping now when I get time to trap and I have been known to pluck a squirrel or two with it.

Remington 552 Speedmaster. Inherited it from my grandfather, and dang it's a great rifle. Showing off would be the only reason to get something that'll shoot tighter groups at 50 yards

My grandpa gave me a marlin 22 when I was a kid and I shot jar lids then graduated it to coon hunting, probably knocked out a thousand coon with that old gun. Now I carry it on my trap line. It sure ain't the nicest gun but it served my grandpa well for years and me for 30 years and counting

Ruger 10/22 given to me by my parents when I was 10 years old. Then at 19 bought a Ruger 77/22 in 22 hornet and that has been my go to small game gun with handloads for 21 years now. The Savage markII bolt action 22lr suppressed has taken over the past 2 years as becoming my favorite and most used even on the trap line. It is so nice to shoot and not scare the rest of the woods off!!!

I got a Mossberg Palomino lever action 22 when I was 12.I loved that gun and near lived in the bush with it every chance I got.
The stock got broke on it one night out rat hunting with some buddies,and I gave it to a guy who said he could make a new stock.Guy moved away taking my gun with him that dirty MF.I been looking for another one ever since.
It was an accurate shooter,prone to jamming due to double feeding on occasion.But I loved that gun.

When I was young I packed my Model 24 22mag over 20 squirrel hunting every chance I got. Have not shot it in years and had no Idea it had any value. Cool gun but probably headed to gun broker been getting rid of stuff that I don't shoot anymore here lately. Now when I squirrel hunt I carry a savage bolt 22 with a fixed 4 power scope.

Does anyone know what model no. Was just like the 581, but tube fed?
