Looking to upgrade from the 20 year old Sears Craftsman table saw . Too many things have gone wrong with it lately. Cracked turn wheel to turn the blade. The rod that the turn wheel turns. is jammed up somehow. Motor pulley keeps slipping off the shaft. Yes , I know ; those things COULD be fixed, BUT....................

I looked at a new DELTA Table Saw that was in Lowes, the other day......

Anyone seen, or have this Table Saw??

Delta Model # 36-725

Try googling reviews on it?

I would guess that's a direct drive saw, you may be going down in power from your belt drive Craftsman. If you do a lot of ripping 2" you may not be happy. I don't know how to compare amps to hp, but my old craftsman developes 3 hp.

I understand there's two versions of that one. A stripped down one built for Lowe's and a better one direct from delta. They also have steel and cast wings in a couple sizes from delta.
I've looked at that same saw myself but have yet to pull the trigger.

I have a Delta on a wheeled stand from Lowes. I have had it for about 3 years and it is great.

I had my heart set on that saw... but did not end up getting it. I'm sure you would be happy with it if you go that route. I ended up with a Ridged R4512 from home depot. I am so far very happy with it. Its about 70 dollars cheaper than the delta and I had 450 dollars of HD gift cards to use towards it or I would have gone with the delta. However after using the rigid I am glad that I got what I did.

It would kind of depend on what you’re using it for? Or how much? Woodworking & cabinet making? Then I would guess no. A Unisaw or the like would be better choice. Ripping occasionally plywoods or dimensional soft woods? Then yes. It would be fine.

Depends on what you are doing, how much space you have and how much you want to spend. I have an Hatachi 12" with a 3hp belt driven motor. It's been a good saw, I bought it at lowes probably 10 years ago. I want to upgrade but just have other things to spend money on and don't have the room yet. I don't really like Delta much. I believe they are the cheap line of Porter Cable? The rule I usually go by when buying a tool is get the best you can afford if not one step above that. Just my .02

First saw I had, was the old Ryobi BT-3000. Made 2 Cherry Beds, 1 five Drawer Curly Cherry Chest of Drawer. 1 End Table, and 1 Plant Stand. Also used that Table Saw to cut 3x3's of Cherry for Turning.

I trading in that Saw , for the Sears Craftsman table saw with the Cast Iron extensions. That is the Saw I have now for the past 20 + years. Made another % Drawer chest out of Maple with that. Along with a Curly Maple Changing Table, 2 End Tables out of Red Elm, a Cherry Sleigh Bed, 2 Work Benches. One, out of Curly Red Oak with a Cherry top and an Ash center Beam. The Other workbench, is solid Red Oak. Also made a 2 Cherry Lowboys. One from the Ryobi, and the other one using the old Sears Table Saw.

The Sears Saw was good, but it's just worn out.

Don't have the room for a Cabinet Saw. The only way to get a Table Saw in the Basement , is through the Bilco Doors.

Went through a truck load of those old craftsmans, none of them had a fence that you didn't have to square up with every move. There are a few here, if I only had a good fence I.d rebuild one. But I am jaded from working on one that weighs as much as a pick up.

Saw stop x2

It's amazing how much you can get done in a day, when it all has to get done.

I have a 15 year old Delta contractor saw. It's been awesome. Sure I'd like to have a sawstop like everyone recommends, they cost 3x the money. You can buy a lot of lumber for $1,000. I upgraded my saw with a v link or power twist belt and it's always run silky smooth.

First table saw I bought new was a Delta industrial, still have it and wore out many blades, still have it and it runs fine, I did buy a portable Bosch table model hen I built my house for wood finishing, then sold it after I was finished with it, never lost a dollar on it.

I would agree to buy better if you can afford to, however if you feel you can take care of things and get by you can always spend the extra you would have paid for better on wood or blades or sharpening them.

I think Stanly Works-Black & Decker owns the Delta name , some products are made in Mexico ,some in Taiwan, some may be US , probably depends on each and everyone of their products where they are made .

Simplify your methods to the point of perfection.

Become fast,efficient & effective.

The real "SECRET" to successful trapping.

KEEP IT SIMPLE!
