I am in trouble now. A super friendly house cat showed up earlier this evening. As I opened the garage door, to take the trash out, this lil turd shot into the garage just a squalling. My dogs heard it, and want to get to it. Now, my dear bride wants to keep it. It belongs to someone, because it wants in the house, and shows no fear of my dogs. So I figure it came from a home with dogs, but I think my dogs will paint this peacefull house with blood. My wife thinks the pups want to play, but I say they don't. They have never met a feline face to face, so I need prayers. This can play out in several ways. Dogs crush cat instantly, ok. Dogs slaughter cat over several rooms. Not good. I get involved, and wife kills me slowly. Worse yet. I stand my ground, wife neuters me, cat comes in anyway, dogs like cat, and I sleep on couch. So, it may get a lil sporty here tonight. Did I say that I don't like cats, unless they're Nevada stretched!

I hear ya. It looks like we are the last ones in the area to know about this varmint. Neighbor said the lady down the road fed it for a while, and looked for the owner. Now it found us, and my wife wants to keep it. My wife had a cat in 1991 that took off, and somehow, I have always figured out a way to keep her cat loving insticts at bay, since then. We have a great dane thats 140 lbs and a rhodesian ridgeback thats about 85 lbs. and they have not met a cat yet, and I hoped they never would. I don't completely hate cats, but I also don't think any animal should be left to fend for itself. A cat left out is not a good cat. If this sucker gets in, my dogs will demo this house trying to catch it. My wife thinks it'll be ok. I guess we'll see if it leaves on its own!!!

Prayers sent. My wife has had several cats in the past and we had two that are fine. A couple months ago she sent me pics of two little kittens that were almost frozen. She found homes for them but then we found the a third one. Well now we have 3 cats. Our dog part bluetick and fence jumper (father) loves to tree cats. Its gets kinda sporty when they all get together.

Better be careful. My rhodesian/lab mix got to smell the bobcat I caught last year and now every time she smells a cat, it's instant hunt mode. Thank god we don't own one. But the old lady next to us feeds all the strays. Thank the Lord we have an 8 foot fence. Lol. Maybe I should she if she'll tree. My luck she'd catch one and shred it it in her front yard.

He may not do well due to not growing up with a kitty in the house! Rhodesian ridgebacks can be good with cats, but I think they need to be introduced at a young age. He is almost a year old and If it runs from him, it may get ugly for the cat! I hope it leaves tonight, but I did feed it. It dove into a bowl of dog food like it was starving. I am not a cat person, but I also believe that anything deserves to eat. This kitty is small, but if left out, our small rabbit population can't handle it later on.

That's what I'm saying. Mine wasn't raised around them either and she has the instinct to hunt. So don't be surprised if there's kitty parts everywhere.

Dogs can differentiate between cats they can kill and cats they are not allowed to. My dogs in particular, one named Eli, kill feral cats that show up, in a very fast, efficient manner.
The same dogs lived with an old cat, who died 2 years ago and another old cat, who died earlier this year. The dogs would sleep on the cats like the cats were pillows.
We also have 4 outside cats that the dogs are not allowed to harm. My dogs will ignore them and even run past them to catch any other cats that show up.
I started seeing some mice in the house, after our last inside cat died, so I picked up 2 friendly kittens, who had grown up with a rambunctious pitbull puppy. They showed and show no fear of my dogs. I introduced the kittens to my dogs and verbally corrected my dogs if they showed to much interest in the kittens, for a few days. Now the kittens sleep on the dogs and run to the door with my dogs when it's time to go out.
Dogs have been used for millions of years to protect people and their livestock. Dogs are smart enough to learn what to protect and what to kill.

The last cat my wife had, was a tom. Started spraying in the house, which is pretty nasty. I guess today I'll find out about what will happen. Lol

I think she has herself talked out of it. Now, if I can haul it away, before she changes her mind!

tell your wife you need to sent it to the shelter so that it't owner can find it. offer to take it the absolute last thing you want is your wife or kids at a shelter , no good comes of that
next thing you now each will have a cat picked out , and you will have 4 cats and 2 dogs and you don't even like cats .
this is a very critical moment , if you don't act wisely you are done for.
ask me how I know , yeah really 4 cats , they are like a gate way animal to having more. it is a very slippery slope don;t walk near the edge.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Whew, the threat is over. It is leaving! I'm glad. It came to the glass patio door earlier this morning. Dogs tried to squash it through the glass. I may be wrong, but I think the only animal adoption here , is through foster homes. Animals that come in, got to homes around the area, until adopted out. So, no looking at sad eyes, all in one room!!!

I'd be wary of a stray cat. We had one come into our yard. My wife, who loves cats, picked it up and got bit. She poo-pooed my telling her she needed to go emergency.
Within two days, her hand swelled up like she was wearing a boxing glove. She didn't get rabies, but had to take oral antibiotics and have two injections per day for 10 days to beat the infection. Due to the infection, the tendon in her thumb ruptured. She had surgery to fix that and now has therapy once a week. All this because she picked up a stray cat!
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

This one is super friendly. I know I don't want to get cat bit. Trapper 7, it sounds like your wife really got nailed. This little dude is in a crate, and I'm trying to figure out where to take it!
