Anybody have a 22 mag auto rifle or could suggest one that works. Thinking of getting one for predator hunting bobcat, fox and coyote. Wonder if it would be fur friendly?

If you are looking for something trouble free the volquartzen lineup would be a good place to start. I have a Remington 597 that hasn't caused me any issues as long as I am selective with the ammo I use. That seems to be a common theme with a lot of those cheaper models. A good buddy also has a 10/22mag that works just fine as long as you are selective with what you feed it.

I have a Remington 597 in 22 WMR. Took some work to get it reliable but haven’t had a problem since. 22mag is not going to drop a coyote in his tracks every time. I shoot Winchester 50grn hollow points and they(rounds) are tough to find. If I had to buy another I’d probably look at the CZ. If I had to buy another rim fire for predators I’d look at one of the 17 WSM gun.

Magnum Research is a really good one. I have an Excel Arms and it works great for me but my buddy bought one and he's had nothing but troubles with it jamming.

Great for raccoon calling.

I had a Marlin 922 and got in a bind once and had to sell it. It was okay but not nearly as accurate as bolt rifles I have owned. When I say not very accurate I'm talking soft ball size pattern at 50 yards and in my opinion is pretty bad. Maybe I just had a lemon.

I've heard good things about the CZ.

I have a Remington 597 that is very accurate with cci ammo but you can’t put more than 5 rounds in the magazine or it will jam on the first shot. I think I have 4 magazines for it and they all do that. Not a big deal but it’s advertised to hold 8+1.

I have not tried one ,but I was at the store last Saturday and noticed CCI teamed up with savage to make A22 mag ammo

ammo was always the weak link in 22 mag auto loaders , it is a long strait skinny cartridge that isn't overly powerful that has to be able to move the bolt but the bolt riding home needs to be able to feed the cartridge

tuning a bolt to an ammo would make the most sense one could only hope that the ammo and rifle combo is also accurate.

you might want to check out Savage A22 reviews and see where that leads you.

Yes, I have a CZ and Kel-Tec CMR30 , both are semi-auto's. 22 mag's are very fur friendly. You can combine the Kel-Tec CMR30 with their pistol, the PMR30, as the 30 round magazine fit's both the pistol and rifle. I use the Fiocci 40 gr. or Winchester 40 gr. both in a soft point. I run them dry, no lubrication, below zero temperature's.

The CZ's are very accurate. You can purchase a 5 round magazine that fit's flush or the 10 round that hangs down.

Savage is supposed to be coming out with the A22 magnum, but I have not seen it yet, only the A22 in 22 long rifle so far. Brand new design.

As for bolt rifle's, I use a Ruger American Compact, 22 magnum, love it, take's the Ruger 10/22 magnum magazine too, so 10 round's in their rotary magazine.

My Super Wide will pull your broken down 4 stroke, up a hill backwards, with you on it!

Me too. Hard to find now and expensive if you do find one.

One guy on here hunts coyotes in Canada with 22 lr. I think he said he gets to around 30 yards almost in bow range though. I know that doesn't answer your question, but something to consider. I wouldn't feel like I was under gunned with 22 mag at 75 yards.

I have a Marlin 922 and it is very accurate, even after breaking the stock in two over a refusing-to-die large animal because I ran out of ammo and it gored my buddy Chuck all the way to the leg bone.

I just googled Ruger and looked through all of their new rifles and could not see it there. I also did a search through their semi autos and they had no .22 magnums listed in their semi auto rifles. Could you please provide a link as to where you spotted that one?
