This was mentioned in the current photobucket thread, but it needs it's own post, and maybe even a sticky.

Some time ago, Photobucket made all of their pictures disappear from forums. That means that here, many of the pictures in the archives were lost, as well as people's avatars, signature pics, etc. Well, there is an easy way to fix that. You download a simple little extension, and like magic, they come back. You must be using either Firefox or Chrome browser... there is no fix I can find for IE... But if you're still using IE, you really need to upgrade to a better browser anyways, lol.

For Firefox users: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/?src=api&hotlinkfix=1516284990375 Go that link, and click Add to Firefox. Then Add. Then OK. All done.

For Chrome Users: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg Go that link, and click Add to Chrome. Then click Add Extension. All done.

For Phones: (Android based, don't know if it works on Iphones or not??) Go to Playstore and download Firefox browser. Open the browser, and go to this link. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/?src=api&hotlinkfix=1516284990375 Click add to Firefox, then yes or ok. THEN, if it's still not loading the test picture on this post... on the browser, go Settings then Clear Private Data, all the boxes should be checked, then click clear and that SHOULD do it.

As far as I can find, only Firefox and Chrome have the fix. Either of those browsers CAN be download on Apple products though....

I posted this a few times over the past year on threads where the question came up, thanks Angela for making it a thread. Might get more notice. Good internet wide not just here.
It will only work though if the picture is still on photo bucket, if the poster moved or deleted the picture from the bucket the fix is useless. It also won't replace posts that have been moved or taken down by admin on the forums.

First of all I know NOTHING about Apple products, so maybe someone who does and has figured it out can help. It doesn't appear to have downloaded right. In your photo it says "Added to desktop" whereas it should say added to Chrome, or added to Firefox. Assuming a Desktop on Apple is similar to a desktop on Windows, that would be the screen that opens when you first sign on, where all your icons are. Look for an icon on that screen that says something about photobucket, or hotlink fix, and maybe try running it from there? Do you know if you have Chrome, or Firefox as the browser on your Ipad?

I just installed Chrome. I don’t see anything related to photobucket on my desktop. I am on an iPad if that makes a difference.

OK, I've been playing, trying to figure out a way for the phones... and I think I found a way for you too, vatrapping. I can NOT get it to work on Chrome on my phone. When I tried, it gave the same message you got: Downloaded to desktop. Which I figured out means Google Desktop, and which it then told me meant that whenever I logged into Chrome from an actual computer, the extension would work, but not on the phone.

So then I tried Firefox on the phone, and that worked! I downloaded firefox, and then used the Firefox link from the original post to download the extension, and it downloaded it to the firefox phone browser, which is where it needs to be. When I first refreshed the page, it didn't work, but then I went into settings on firefox, hit Clear Private Data, and then refreshed this post, the test picture was showing up, so it worked.

So, I have NO Apple products (Iphones, Ipads, etc) to do any testing with, so I can't promise you downloading firefox on your Ipad will work, but it might.

OK I edited the original post, and added a fix for phones. You must use the Firefox browser on your phone for it to work. This works on Android based phones. I have no way to check to see if it works for Iphones... so if anyone can get it to work on an Iphone, or Ipad, please let us know!

Yeah, tjm, your post on that thread was where I saw it... and since it was the FIRST time I saw it, I figured others like me that got tired of reading a new photobucket post a week, may have also missed the fix.

Sorry, I missed your question. This fix isn't about recovering photos from photobucket. It's just about being able to see pictures that have been posted online using photobucket, if that makes sense. Photobucket made it so that you can't see any pictures posted on forums through their site... this is just a hack that lets you see them again.

As far as recovering photos from photobucket, you can... but I believe you have to save them one by one, not as a whole album at a time. You'd log into your photobucket account, open each picture, right click on it, then click save.

Dfabs I am running Firefox 57.0.4 64 bit for IOS and all I did was download the App , Install it and it asked in a popup panel for permissions. I hit yes. That's all it took for me to get those older pics . I hope this helps, sorry for the delay WORK sure does get in the way of important stuff sometimes

That's odd, the only version I can find on iTunes is Firefox 10.4. It is evidently not compatible with the add-ons. I guess I'm just stuck looking at the blue boxes unless I start using my son's android phone.

Logged in on Chrome on my IMAC OS High Sierra v 10.13.2. Clicked on your link. Initially I could not get to the app but I unplugged my router and wireless tower and rebooted everything and I was able to get to it. Clicked on add to Chrome, etc, and Voila! I can see the bobcat photo on page 1 so I think I am good to go. Thanks for the tip.

I just made the switch to Firefox and don't seem to be having any problems with it on that browser.... YET.

Yep - My Chrome was running slow as molasses also. Looks like I will have to disable the "fix".

Ok, go to the three little lines below the red X, hit Options... half way down the page there is a spot where you can change the font size.
