I should know this but was reading up on my MB450s & it says they have night latched dogs. What does this mean?

It's a small step in the end of the dog so you can hear and feel a click, when you engage the pan and dog.

Wolfdog is showing a night-latched pan. A night-latched dog is the same thing but on the dog instead of the pan.

Eh...wot?

When you set the pan on the dog and lower it slowly it will click over the "nite latch" and you know the pan is level.

I used to think the night latch was a gimmick thing really, but after using traps that are night latched I kinda like hearing the "click" when setting the trap. I have got in the habit of setting and bedding a trap and after packing the jaws and before covering the trap setting the night latch. Its just a little security when I have my fingers between the jaws.

I left the loose jaw and set the night latch just before covering. That way my fingers are not in harms way.

Eh...wot?
