Was working this morning in central Indiana around 4AM and saw something bounce across the road in front of me. Pulled up and shined flashlight in edge of side ditch and there stood small perfectly white weasel. Got to watch him for a few seconds before he took off. Had a friend who caught one in a trap when we were teen agers almost 40 years ago but not since so it made my day. Now I am thinking I need to catch one of them little buggers.

Never seen a white one. Saw an albino deer one time in a cut bean field in early December a few years ago.

Yeah - that would make a very cool mount!

Buy a fence picket and build a box. Put a Victor rat trap in it with some fresh chicken liver behind the trap.put the box right where you saw him. You will get him in short order.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Was cutting wood about two years ago when I had one visit me. He was going from brush pile to brush pile and even had a mouse one time. The noise of the saw didn't seem to bother him and I enjoyed the company. Went back the following weekend to cut some more but never seen him again.

We were tracking a deer at night once and watched one for a long time about ten yards away. Didn't seem to care we were there.

While duck hunting a couple years ago, I had one poke its head out of some grass next to me. I had taken a single duck and just had it sitting on a bullrush out of the water about at arms length. I watched him as he sniffed around for a minute, then went for the duck. I had to shoo him off then. I've caught several the last few years. As suggested, snap trap in a box. Works dandy.

I took this pic in my backyard, quite a few years ago. Our weasels turn white, generally in Oct., preparing for winter. And generally stay white until April.

I see them at the ranch but not often. I find scat from them in the wood shed and really like to have them around. Between weasel and bull snakes I don't have a mouse problem I can tell you that. I really love watching weasel work and hunt they are amazing creatures.
