Looks like a rub spot by the shoulders. Might be a good one to practice home tanning.

Not one I would skin unless it had sentimental meaning and I was going to tan it to keep.

The color Is Ok but there Is a huge lack of any guard hair. Skin It put It up then toss It away. It's a good practice critter.

Does someone have a photo of a nice western pale to show Zak?

Would have been a better picture if he was around a foot closer to the cut branch... Congrats on the coyote!

Looks like you're about ready to take a load or two to the dump.
I just caught one all rubbed down between the shoulder blades. It's the first one I've ever caught like that. I'm going to see what offer I get for it and then probably send it out to be tanned. It still has nice fur on the flanks and I can use that to sew some mittens or something.
Congratulations on the catch! Go get some more!

Yup, tan and keep it, it's your first. My first yote was a 45 pounder (huge for my area) with good/thick hair, but an ugly, dark, red/brown color. I had him mounted with the trap I caught him in (a Northwoods 1.75 coil) on his foot. Here he is- By the way, those cats make me very jealous! We don't have very many around here, and can't hunt or trap them anyway. I've been watching your posts, you've had a great season! This weather and overtime at work has almost shut me down completely
When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.
