That tall brush ......after the hair cut and the neck is shaved with the straight....some Talc powder is sprinkled onto the top of that brush and then the back of the neck and ears and front of the neck are Feather Dusted ...for smooth ,soothing and itch free feeling....and smell good too.

These are what I use during weekdays. I don’t have a pic of my straights. I use them mostly on weekends or days off. These were all replated in nickel. The open combs are from the 30’s the red tip from the 50’s and the other one from 45. The guy who I had replace them took the picture.

I just started using a vintage gelliet superspeed from my dad probably from the 60s I think and a gold plated tech both give good shaves . I am tired of disposable safety razors !

I've got a 1947 Gillette Super Speed and a pack a blades from 1938. Not using the blades but the Super Speed works great when I'm in a hurry.

Great old time Barber shop smell.....but doesnt carry on through the day...it's an after shave ..not a cologne. The florid is alcohol based....which might sting a wee bit. That proraso I have a pic of.....is a great after shave "balm " ,no alcohol. It is a moisturizer and leaves the face Nice and cool ...also stops any small weepers if you nick yourself....has all kinds of skin goodness in it...and best of all reduces razor burn.

Yes, when rushing is not a good time for straights.

I like the red tip as well Nessmuck. My favorite is the short comb. I was using all these and my father in law went to The old barber college in the late 60’s and gave me the straights he was given. A couple old Dovo razors and a few he had collected. He never became a barber, but worked at GM instead.

I used to think I could sharpen my pocket knife so sharp I could shave with it. It is truly amazing how much sharper a straight is. Wow.
