With all the reporting now of laws that are purposefully not being enforced, can that be used as a defense?

Holding some criminals accountable and not others seems to be discrimination.

Isn't that a major beef of the left, arresting blue collar pot smokers and ignoring white collar cocaine users?

Your getting dangerously close to speaking common sense.
There's a law against that.

I have thought for some time that law students should review laws , with modern statistics they should be able to tell when the last time law 176.00xx was used , and recommend laws for review writing papers on the effects of the law, potential for misuse , if it is being enforced , if it needs to be updated for modern technology or terms , when last used , how often used , this could then be sent before a citizens review board and a certain number of laws could be brought up every year to be stricken from the books.

a simple set of rules that applies to all and which are enforced in a meaningful way , rather than this clutter of laws that refer to other laws , that refer to other laws.

lets get the law students to work for us for free before they graduate and charge for every word.

any law that has not been used or enforced in 10 years should be reviewed.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Whole federal government could be ran on one book of laws. Tax code, criminal code, all of it. The same for each state, one book. Won't happen because there wouldn't be enough money and power brokering to quibble about and pursue. EVERY regulatory agency in U.S. could be done away and I doubt anyone would miss them.
