Proposed New US Layout
https://didyouknowfacts.com/proposed-38-states-america-money-benefits-citizens/

See, the way things stand, states with too many big cities and/or large population centers mean too much strain on a state’s tax dollars. In his revised map, states were redrawn to adjust the number of people dependent on each state, therefore relieving some of that strain. As you can see, he proposed renaming the new states based on natural geologic features or the region’s cultural history. This includes renaming of the states. Which new state would you find yourself in?

Looks like more trapping ground since I am currently near three state borders but with the new lay out I could hit it all.

I'd still want to move to Bighorn or Dakota.

I would be in Mackinac. Still sticks us with some major welfare cities though.

Alabama will get the panhandle like she should've in the first place.

This one keeps the number at 50 states and uses 2010 census data.

Minnesota looks similar in shape. It just expanded 20 miles west of the red River to include all the mouth breathing liberals stacked up like cord wood from Fargo and Grand Forks ND. Mesabi would implode after the first distribution of welfare checks.

Just make North Michigan, and North Minnesota and Maine part of Canada. They are already sort of honorary Canadians.

Ayiyi. Liberal logic. "states with too many big cities and/or large population centers mean too much strain on a state’s tax dollars.". I wonder if these nuts have ever considered that it's not the population that causes a strain on tax dollars, it's the balance of consumers vs producers. A huge city full of employed people who pay more taxes than they consume in services, would have a public surplus. Even the smallest country town will have a deficit if they spend more than their constituents contribute. Unfortunately cities tend to attract those who would rather benefit from the work of others. Rural areas require less infrastructure and typically hold a higher ratio of producers vs consumers.

That's actually the same argument I made with someone else.

Most (not all...) cities provide more revenue to the state than they receive back in aid.

Look at most historical maps of Florida, and the Panhandle goes clear to
Louisiana. Was called West Florida at times. I think it still should. Most Panhandlers do not like to be referred to as L.A.. They prefer not to be called Alabamaniacs. laugh

BC can join California and Washington state,Alberta rednecks cant wait to become part of the gun toting USA,Quebeckers would give you a run for your money, they don't even want to be Canadian, let alone Yankees. And the North, well we all know you couldn't survive up here anyway,so not worried.Toronto and the south of Ont can join lefty NY.
Northern Ontario will still adopt Northern Minnesota and the UP.

I’m not disagreeing at all. Of course cities make more money, and therefor generate more taxes. But this isn’t about quantity; it’s about proportion. If it’s as you say Tweed, then why would the writers of this proposal even make their statement?
“states with too many big cities and/or large population centers mean too much strain on a state’s tax dollars.”

I was basing my argument on their statement, just on the hypothetical assumption that it was valid . Of course, state and federal distribution is vastly different as well, and federal spending hugely affects state. Perhaps the reason that cities are a “burden” on states is because the feds fund so much of the unincorporated infrastructure.

looks like both maps put a lot of gun control and animal rights advocates into states where those things are not a big threat

I wasn't sure why they said that and I didn't find a reference for that statement either. One reason cities per capita contribute more is because economy of scales. High density is just more efficient. This isn't an argument against or for a certain type of lifestyle though I'm sure some one will try to make that argument.

The State of Superior looks good to me, but it needs a little curve to exclude the Twin Cities.

Less representatives in the Senate for less populated states when each state gets two and you combine two or three. More for states that become two states.

Aren't they one of the few sovereign states ever that willfully gave up their sovereignty?
