Hello. Last year was my first year to take fur to a Groenewold stop. I had 8 coon that probably averaged 3x. I had been seeing prices on here last year. So when I asked if he was interested in buying them he asked how much I needed for them. I told him $8 and he bought them. This was after he had bought the coyotes, bobcats, and otters so he wasn't looking to average things out. This year I again have 7 3x-4x finished coon(caught in Dec.) that I will be trying to sell. In case he again isn't too enthused about buying coon what would be a fair price if he asks how much I need? I don't want to give a low price but don't want to insult him either. Thank you for your time.
PS: All I want is numbers. Not how the market is bad, don't sell them, they are worthless, etc.

$8 sounds about right to me for finished big ones as you describe.
We sold all of our coon a couple weekends ago to local groenwald buyer. He Only offered two prices for coon and we got either $1 or $4 no other options. These were for frozen, brushed and cleaned, December caught prime coon. $4 was paid only if they were in awesome shape and at least XL or larger. Anything else (smaller, damaged, slights, etc.) was either $1 or $0, period. We had a few we didn't get to sell just wouldn't buy them.
So for finished as you described in your lot, the buyer has to do the work to put carcass coon up like I sold him. I think double carcass price would be more than fair, so $8 would be a good starting point if negotiating. Don't expect much in this market though, seriously.
Also, while we were there we did see a pile of $8 finished coon exchange from trapper to this buyer.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

$8-$10 sounds about right. Even though I’m not sure how yours would grade?

Let him offer you a price. When you sell fur, that is the normal way to do it, then after his offer, you can make a counter offer. I would never sell to someone that makes you offer what you want. You won't hurt his feelings, they have been hurt before, I assure you!

X2 you are selling and he is buying. Don't let him talk you into doing both.

Yeah, let them offer. Then you can haggle from there. Gonna take a few coyotes and coon to them on Saturday. Went a different route with my cats. You taking them St. Joe or Cameron Turkeytime? Your probably not far from myself.

Groney advertises that you can send him fur, he will offer a price and ship it back to you if you refuse his price. He should do the same face to face. Make him offer if you want the best price he is willing to give. Otherwise you are probably getting less than you could. Groney is an experienced fur buyer and has been in business a long time. He has not done that by losing money so he won't offer a price higher than he is confident in making an adequate profit on.

When he says "What do you have to have for them?" the answer could be "Make me an offer I think is fair and we will do a deal."

I sold my coons to Groeny a couple weeks ago. All 3x or bigger. Paid $11.00 average, all finished. I was satisfied.

I know that I could sell all the 3x select Northcentral-Northern coon I wanted to for 12 dollars and 4x select heavies for 16.00. If they are selects and are heavy I would say they are worth that to most buyers. I doubt you will get that from GFW since they already said at the beginning of the season they were not interested in paying anything for them. Selling fur to someone who says they do not want them opens yourself up to getting paid a lot less than they are worth. LLL
