What purpose do these serve and how do they function? I have a Newhouse #4 with one of these on it but I haven't been able to find any information on the web about it.

Thanks.

Usually see them referred to as " Anti-pan breaker". They were put on to keep the pan from rotating too far and giving the trapped animal a chance to bend/break the pan. Not a expert here-maybe someone has a better explanation.

Providing wild fur to the industry at below the cost of production for over 50 years.

Mostly carbon neutral since 1948.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find much of anything at all about it other than people referencing them when they were up for sale. Surprisingly little written about them.
