I trap big woods coyotes in northern Maine. Some of the older ones (females are the worst) only do one thing when you approach. They try to get you and never stop until you give them the 22.

I'm not about to walk down a 7' length of 1X19 cable to choke stick a coyote. Know if It's In a foot hold not a problem. I've worked the live market for lots of years and a coyote In a foot hold Is easy peasy. And fox are just about hands on with out a choke stick.

I'd say so about red fox but grey fox are vicious. Every one I've ever trapped in Louisiana claws at the ground trying to get you.

When I trapped Live market greys we just pinned down the grey with a leggits helper grabbed the fox by the neck and removed the trap. Once you get a hold of them they settle right down.

When we sold them we would have 5 or 6 In a transfer cage. The guy we sold to would just stick his bare hand In the cage and pull them out. No way I was going to do that. But I never saw the man get bite.
