You could wet it again and sew it and redry it but I would chunk it, especially if your not very experienced in sewing, that’s too big of a tear to try to fix in my opinion to try and go at it your first time. Next time flip it in about half the time you let that one dry for. Just to where there starting to get a good dry feel to them but still pliable

If you are thinking about tanning some of your own fur. That is a good one to practice on. As far ad freezing fur,I have found that most of the time it is folded wrong. We as trappers are used to seeing fur that is put up. And we tend to fold it up the same way. What I mean is,we put the fur belly to back, just like on a board. Well that leaves the head and butt area more susceptible to drying out in the freezer. But if you fold side to side, all leather is touching leather. Then fold in head and tail and roll up and freeze. And make sure they are chilled before going in the freezer. Jmo

You let it get too dry, also how did you turn it, did you start at the bottom by the tail, or did you start by pushing the face through. You are a LOT less likely to rip a hide, if you take the face and push it through the mouth hole, and use your thumbs to keep pushing a little more leather down inch by inch. Let me know if you want a video, and I can take one next time I turn a thin skinned critter. I do this for all fox, marten and lynx. Wolverine and wolves, it doesn't work.

It works for wolves, that is how I turn wolves-nose thru the mouth.

I do the same, turn everything starting at the head. A cord with an "S" hook on it to run up the inside and hook the nose makes things a lot easier. Anchor the end of the cord to something solid and it gives you something to pull against.

I sew up every hole, and I'll put a stitch or two in a bullet hole as well .

Thanks Boco and Spek, I will give it a try this year. I like your idea about the S hook Spek, turning wolverines is usually a 30 minute ordeal for me lol
