Desert_Fox_Trapper and I had a pretty good second half of the season. Our best cat season together by far and we are pulling the last of our traps tomorrow after this little storm moves thru. If you follow either of us on Instagram or YouTube, then you've been able to keep up. But I know some old timers on here probably don't know how to use either haha. Here are some of my favorite cat pictures from this season.
There is still a couple weeks of season left, but we want to make sure all our fur is dry and cleaned up real well. The way a cat pelt is put up and taken care of has a strong influence on how much someone is willing to pay. Buyers don't want to spend $1,000 on a cat that would have any potential to slip. We want to make sure we have enough time to get everything looking as good as we possible can.
If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.
Good fur handling is important for all fur but moreso for a valuable pelt.Nothing worse than seeing a nice pelt that could have brought big money ruined thru poor fur handling. Nice cats.Post a pic when you have them ready to ship,if you have time.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

None of these will be shipped. We take everything to the Nevada Fur Sale in Fallon. Not only is it probably the best cat sale in the world, but also because I want the commission for my fur to go to the Nevada Trappers Association who I believe (might be a little bias) is the best Trapping Association in the country. They do so much for us every year.
But I’ll definitly post an end of the year trap shed picture.

Nice job Cat Trapper - and thanks for letting us "ride along". I always enjoy your and others' desert cat trapping pics and stories, such a stark contrast to what I'm used to. I hope you do well at Fallon and bring those averages up! Good on you for supporting our state association like that too.
Buyers dont want to spend 1000 on your best cat, and they wont, good luck to ya.
Comb away...........and nevada stretch.
legs together boys!
We always Nevada stretch and pin the legs together. Every year weve been lucky enough to get a way higher average then the sale average. Last we got a few we’ll over the $1k mark. Hoping for the same. If not, I’m sure we will do just fine. We are 100% hobby trappers and do it purely for the fun of being out there. Don’t even care if I we break even or not. We are blessed with some of the nicest colored cats where in from so it could always be worse haha.

I bet when you get older you invest in a table top anvil or at least a tie plate on the table to hammer them ferrules . the onlyu time you will catch me squatting like that is if I'm making a set
Buyers dont want to spend 1000 on your best cat, and they wont...
Now why would anybody go a say that? How on earth do you know what their put-up cats look like? And more importantly, how do you know what buyers will pay for them?
I hope they clear that $1k mark with several of their cats! For two reasons... to show the pessimists their wrong and because they're a couple good fellow trappers that deserve it!
Good luck to you two! Keep up the good work and let us know how you do.
