Well, they finally made their way into my neck of the woods. Just when I am starting to get better at catching them. Figures.
This is the third black wolf I've caught this year but the first with visible signs of an infestation.

Wow, that sucks. I thought they had stayed pretty much south of the Alaska Range. Is that not the case now?

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Bio's always predicted they would spread state wide - although it might take decades to do so.

They seem to be spreading North and this is not the first time they have been found North of the Alaska Range.

Bad! A couple good COLD winters might help cull them out. What do the bellies look like? Lousy Kenai wolves tend to scratch their bellies a lot with predictable results: Red, inflamed/irritated; nasty. Also a greasy condition.

you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

The lower belly was bald near the back legs. I don't think a cold winter will stop them. I have shot coyotes in the tanana flats that looked sheared and it was COLD.

I am trapping North of Fairbanks so I don't think it will stop till it reaches Deadhorse. I guess any nice wolves will be worth more once the supply of good pelts runs out in a few years.

I have killed 6 Yote this year. Every year, a 1/3 of the ones I get have the lice/mite problem. Picked up 3 from a guy this week. 1 out of the 3 had it. Sucks, and it isn't worth all the work for nothing when you get your money back. It takes me a long time to skin, flesh and board. They look good when done, but not into all that work for a dollar.
