Just curious -- do any of yall remove the coil springs after trapping season? I was wondering if it helped in terms of longevity/strength of the coil. thanks

Never bothered and have never heard of anyone that has, for me it would take a god bit to do all of them every year and then have to respring them come prep time at the beginning of the season

Time verses the cost of new springs for me.
Most springs relacks enough when trap is not set to be ok imo

Would not help anything at all, in my opinion. Use, over extension, heat, and rust are what weaken springs. The only time my body grips aren’t compressed is whenever they have a catch.

I don't I just went through my older Northwoods #3's and replaced the coils with music wire coils. These traps are 30+ yrs old and they probably really didn't need to be changed but did it any ways.
