If I store my unused bait, lure, and urine will it still be good to use next year? If so what would be the best way to store it? Can it be frozen or just keep it closed in the basement?

I personally freeze my bait. and keep my lure and urine at room temperature, as long as there in a sealed bottle or container

Tuning in. I would like to know also. I currently have all mine in the crisper drawer of the garage fridge. Don’t need the beer getting funky

I use an old frig that no longer works.
Some oils and lures will escape around the lid. I've found if you clean the lid and the treads of the lure bottles first, then heat some wax so its good and hot,you can turn the tightly closed bottles upside down and put them into the hot wax just past the cap,it helps keep most from getting air in and smell out. This will help keep thing like glycerine from picking up smells from leaky lure bottles.
And skunk quill should be kept somewhere else. And the cooler and darker the better.
And the freezer part is a good place to age bait,if the seal is good.
Hope this helps

Wetdog, that's great information. I really like the wax idea. But you wouldn't do that with plastic bottles would you? Would a piece of plastic wrap work under the lid like when you buy it?

I'm new at this also so I truly want to know.

Also, how do you clean the rims of the jar and lid?

You can't cheat the mountain pilgrim. Mountain's got its own ways.

Plastic wrap would work just fine.
When I buy anything in a plastic gallon jug,I change it to a glass jug when I get home. At the end of the season I put straight urine back in the jug.
Spiked urine and bladder pee go in a glass jar and sealed till its time to do some testing in late summer.
Just a lowly fox trapper, yote numbers are so low in my section that yote is a pleasant surprise. And I hope it stays that way.lol
Maybe someone else will chime in and lend more info.

Wet dog is spot on! I use SAW size ammo cans in a dedicated fridge. I keep predator lures in 3 cans and water and coon in a different one. I can fit those 4 candy on the lowest shelf. Urine is on the top shelf along with gallons of bait. Pint urine bottles and a few odds and ends in the door.

I wrap every bottle with wide clear tape before I open it. That way the label can be read after a few weeks of muddy gloves lol.

I open each before I’m done for the year and wipe the threads on the jar and lid clean! before I put them away. I don’t wax but that would be the final step.

Skunk quill is in 4 oz bottles in a small ammo can too.

During season I freeze beaver and rat meat for bait and freeze glands when I have full quarts. Also use fridge part to chill coon for 24hours at least before fleshing.

I store all my baits and lures in small plastic buckets. Cover them with sand and put lid on. Keeps smell in and the woman happy. Keep out of direct sunlight and they will last for years.

Used to stack them in a five gallon pail and filled with DRY dirt and stored outside all summer. Just moved to ammo cans for bait and lures. Urine and fish oil is still the dirt/pail method.
