the farmer wants them gone. Not very bad. It obviously is not a problem that he/she is very concerned about or he/she would say something like "get these things out of here, cost is not a factor. " Trapping them as pests, neither he nor you as his agent would even need a permit. Call the Conservation Agent and he will explain it to you. 3 CSR 10-4.130 Owner May Protect Property, https://www.sos.mo.gov/cmsimages/adrules/csr/current/3csr/3c10-4.pdf

I really hate to come on here and be negative, there is enough negativity on this site already, BUT this is a problem that I have ran into many times in Missouri. The thought of paying a trapper is often scoffed at, and I have had noses turned up at me when I mention it. Why is this? If you have a backed up sewage pipe would you expect the plumber to come in and fix your problem for free? When your car breaks down does the mechanic repair it free of charge? Why is the service of trapping problem critters any less than any other service? Now it's said this guy is filthy rich, but yet no mention of paying for removal?
One of the best things I was ever told, by a great trapper, was this "Do not use your time and money to fix their problem" That's good advice not only in trapping, but life in general. Even if he gets backhoe going, he's gonna be tearing out those damns every other week. Spending his time and money to prolong his agony.
I hope he gets his issue fixed, but refusal to pay can complicate things and make them harder than they need to be. #1 he probably won't get an experienced trapper to do it, and then problem #2, now there's potential for joe blow down the street to be educating these beavers and making the job that much harder and more expensive when he does decide to do it right and pay an experienced trapper. As they say, money talks, bull spit walks.

Isn't the landowner in question charging people to hunt? Probably thinks he's offering a trapper a favor. He ought to be paying hunters also if there is any money changing hands.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Valid points but many Old timers don't know about all that. Used to be, you let some folks go hunting they would drop a rabbit or pheasant off as thanks. I darn near have carte blanche with a few farmers and if they ask for nuisance work I go get em as appreciation. I feel the OP is hinting at a potential similar deal. Nothimg wrong with turning a dollar unless it loses 10. Understood and I have done that too. I tell all my landowners who let me trap every year to call me if they any problems, any time of the year. But if this guy is only offering beavers, then it's $50 a beaver out the gate, and $75 per beaver when he calls back after joe blow down the street has them onto the game at hand.

yes I get permission to trap all the other fur if i'm doing a removal! If its done in the summer I get access to that farm the following fall. But i've gotten screwed on that deal a few times. For some reason deer hunters are the holy grail to land owners. If I cant have trapping rites the other hunters can use a boat! I laugh when I think about calling a plumber to come wrangle turds and think he’s going to do it just because he loves it or might make a few bucks selling what he catches LOL
