I'm gonna buy a setter for conis.
Rts?
MTP?
Any other...
What do y'all use?
What holds up best?
What is a waste of time and money?
What are your reviews?

Thanks
Ken

RTS for me. I do not handle 330s without them. I also use the Safety Pin type safety as it keeps your hand above the line of fire of the jaws.

I am not a high numbers guy so the little extra time is not a concern for me.

RTS Setters...I don't set water traps without them in my bag.

I use a rope and don't mind it. But I want an upgrade.

I got a RTS just because I'm by myself and if I ever had a accident I could use it with one hand. Works great and well built.

wise move

I like the xtra long steel ones....I add rubber bicycle grips for comfort

I also have used Sleepy Creek aluminum but they flex and I don't like that.

The Bridger setters is the best tool I've used. Wont be without one again. I had seen these setters advertised but never used one until this year. So much better than regular tongs.

I like the Bridger setters.

After a slight incident, I carry a rope with a loop in right and left pocket.

Can't go wrong with the RTS setters IMO.

Locking setters - most of the locking setters only lock in one position and that is fully closed.

RTS are not usually referred to as locking setters but they really are. In fact, they lock in any position from fully open to fully closed and anywhere in between. Every time you pump the handle they are locked until you press the release tab.

I was going to go with the rts to
And then I saw these.

It appears that the round bar used to clamp the springs is pretty heavy duty and welded. I am wondering if the RTS setters are as heavy duty as theae appear to be.

I know the RTS are tough and they fit my smaller hands well. Can not say about the other brand but the angle of the handles makes it look like they would not fit my had very well.

And the RTS can be had for $54.95 at several trap supply dealers.

I field tested those RTS setters before they came out on the market. It's a top of the line setter.

Ken Smith - the handles on that cheaper knock off look to me as though they are made from the cheapest calking guns you can buy. I have not used those setters but I have used a lot of cheap caulking guns and I can tell you from experience those handles bend up pretty easily. I have had them fold under the pressure of trying to squeeze stiff caulking out of the tube with one hand. I'd easily spend the extra few bucks for the RTS especially if I were setting strong 330 or 280 sized springs.
