The large majority of the population will give up freedoms for perceived safety.

Most today have no comprehension of what it is to take care of themselves if things go badly....both of these things are a result of becoming a soft/successful society. Even the cops are not used to dealing with self sufficient people. Armed law abiding citizens are often perceived as a threat just because they are armed or very proficient with firearms..I have experienced that myself while traffic stopped and at gun ranges. But I have also been stopped/interacted with law enforcement that were not that way.

If the cop shootings keep happening at the rate they are more cops will be shifting into the former category.

Bump stocks are a way around a law......ban them and it is OK with me but do not change the age for a long gun purchase.

Students are walking out and rallying today...for more anti gun laws. The politicians will go where the wind blows......look for 'common sense' gun control laws at the state/local level to increase.

It is a shame but many people see anyone who carries a gun as a potential threat not a potential threat stopper.

That’s going a little to far!! I do think Trump got elected for his 2nd amendment stance, his immigration and the wall stance as well. He also campaigned on giving the schools back to the states. I just think he better keep his promises or we will be looking at a Hillary equivalent in 2020.

These cowardly shooters hit schools because they are gun-free zones. Let's face it, we are never going back to the Ozzie & Harriet days. Times have changed and in this case, not for the better.

Most of these guys are in it for the publicity and notoriety they think it gives them. If the media would not name or photograph the perpetrator, it might not look so inviting to go in and shoot up an innocent bunch of kids. Some of these shooters even made video recordings prior. Look at all the copycats the Florida incident spawned.

To bad because if you were running against Hillary you would get my vote. The same reason I voted for Trump.

I know what you're saying Gray Dog. My stance was stated many times prior to the election, "anyone but Hillary".

I knew going in I wouldn't agree with everything Trump does but he was still the best choice of the only two people who could become president. If you're a gun owner and its important to you, he was the only reasonable one to vote for and I still stand behind that 100%. No matter how bad he does, he's better than her.

I really didn't see much difference between the two other than one was better at talking (Hillary) and the other was better at motivating (Trump)

The grit of the American man has vanished. Long before this latest compromise by trump and the NRA. It is hard to find the exact point on the timeline. When I heard voting for the lesser of two evils dogma is when I realized we're done. "Well at least he's better than her". Turn out the lights, the parties over. Another clue that the grit is gone are the comments that people are too busy to protest, tp become involved in politics besides showing up to vote and ridiculing those that do vote differently. Keep sending those checks to the compromiser-in-chief until the whole works ends up in a dust heap.

As stated by others....Trump wasn't their favorite candidate. They picked the less of two evils. To me....Trump just seemed like a different version of Hillary but with better marketing.

And now today, little more than a year after inauguration he seems to be shifting towards gun control.

I have many times but for this election I chose the lesser of two evils. A Hillary win would have been disastrous for what I believe in.

A bunch of high school students left class today to protest about gun control with some of our Democratic "leaders" in Madison,WI. A 15 year old girl was wailing on the radio that she was forced to learn at 5 years of age, how to hide under her desk and hope to avoid getting shot. At 5 years of age I was shown how to get to the cellar of our school where emergency supplies were stored, stay low and kiss your as goodby as the Commies were going to nuke us. Nothing I could do about that but at 5 years old I would have been able to return fire to a school shooter with my Red Ryder.
