There has been quite a bit of speculation as to the circumstances since this news broke about the possibility of one or the other trespassing. The following quote was posted on an NC hunting forum by a man who knew the folks involved:

Quote:
I knew Seth very well. A close friend, a great father, a hard worker and an all around stand up guy. He worked for the DOT during the day, for me in the evenings and pastored his church all to provide for his children. He was using my fox pro. Part of me can’t help feeling guilt for letting him borrow it. He was hunting on land he had leased behind his parents house. He had hunted yotes numerous times in that very spot in the last month. The landowner is the shooters dad. I guess no one will know what really transpired but I pray the authorities get to the bottom of it. Just wanted to give some more context before any more assumptions are made. Please say a prayer for his wife and children ages 1 and 5.

Very sad situation on both sides of the fence.

So serious question here..

Can the pastors wife sue the guy who pulled the trigger?

I would say yes she could.

Should she? That's a whole 'nother debate.

What is debatable about it?

I think she should if there is a chance she might actually get the money. She has the kids to take care of. Hopefully it was nothing more than a terrible terrible mistake but he's still responsible.

My guess is he (shooter) doesn't have a pot to .... in or a window to throw it out of. Hopefully he (pastor) had a decent life insurance policy.

If the pastor had leased the property, sounds like the owners son didnt even belong back there. Not sure how that works in a lease agreement tho.The shooter should lose all rights to ever own a gun again in my opinion.Id think he didnt mean to shoot the guy but he did.Its too late now.I was raised like most probably were,to never ever shoot until you know positively what your shooting at.

So you feel they should selectively withhold information to suit your political agenda? Too many morons already running around with AR 15's, 30 round magazines and bump stocks? Don't like the facts so just whine about them? Typical.

Pass-thru I’m not picking a fight, but MnMan makes a good point. The media uses anything they can. NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE. For example: That’s why they say a “teenager is shot by cops” when it’s a 18 year old man (Ferguson,MO), or a White/Hispanic (George Zimmerman) in Florida

I've thought about the possibility of this happening for years...Coyote vocalizations and an anxious person acting without good visual I.D. of what the assumed target actually is...Unfortunate situation.

Perhaps being a Christian and the wife of a minister she might decide to heed the teachings in the NT concerning lawsuits...

Again, her choice.

Don't they typically kill several people turkey hunting a year in big populated turkey states such as Missouri? And from what I've heard, the largest shot that can be used in MO is #4. You got to be pretty close to someone to kill them with #4 shot.

We had an idiot out west in SD near a NWR that holds a lot of Can geese during the winter kill someone with a high-powered rifle. The victim was in one of those giant Can geese decoy blinds. Numbnuts put a round through it at multiple hundreds of yards. Somehow, I think the guy wasn't convicted of manslaughter but his family lost a big civil case...

The mainstream media are nothing more than liars. They take what is said by LE and edit it to fit their own agenda then off to the races they go. There has got to be a legal means in which individual Officers, LE agencies and others whose info has been taken and edited from it's original context into the twisted demented crap that ends up on the news. With the advent of the new Body Worn cameras which you can not manipulate the video in any form or fashion, this was built into the software by Panasonic. The actual interview of the agency and or individual Officers and the Dept. PIO's is recorded and mandated by most agencies u der the best practices via the IACP and or the Texas Police Chiefs association or your states equivalent.

I do not think that the media can fall back on this right to free press to avoid civil litigation for intentional tampering with the actual statements and information to intentionally report an altered version of the interview that prompted them to reword what was actually said by the agency and or it's Officers to create a misrepresentation of the truth. To me, it would be a darn strong step forward for these agencies and individual Officers who's body camera videos are stored and accessible in the unedited version to initiate litigation against the irresponsible media group and set or at least put the others on notice that we aren't taking your BS anymore. Report on the full and unedited info or don't report at all. I can see individual Officers whose statements were severely taken out of context at the behest of the media for some chickens... Story being able to sue the media group for multiple causes. Man that would be nice to see and the media get slammed through the floor by Judges who are sick of this crap as well.

Shooter is an idiot. You don't shoot at sounds.

Ar15 and what the victim did for a living was added for effect.
