Will be in anchorage in a couple of weeks for a couple job interviews and checking out the area. Plan on looking in Wasilla and Palmer for houses.Wondering if there are any neighborhoods in Wasilla or Palmer to stay a way from?
Also plan to head to Homer for a couple days. Wondering what you guys would suggest for things to do and see this time of year. Would like to do some fishing in homer but not sure of the options this time of year.
If anyone has any advice for me for my vacation or the hopes of making the move up I would appreciate it.

Thanks Dave

I would suggest looking for houses in the core areas of Palmer/Wasilla. You want neighbors, hopefully good neighbors. Folks I have known who have homes in the outer, remote sorta, areas in the valley have theft problems.
Check Homer charter boats businesses on the web to see what might be offered for fishing.

Google Homer winter fishing charters. You’ll find some options. I don’t have personal connections with any charters there, so maybe one of the Homer guys will chime in and him you up.

The Mat-Su valley does have a theft problem, and there are some shady areas, but having neighbors isn’t all that makes the difference. Drive around and check out the neighborhoods you’re looking at. You’ll get a feel for what’s what. I don’t live there myself but have a lot of friends there. If you come up with any specific neighborhoods I might be able to comment.

Check neighborhood roofs for missing shingles. Gets a little breezy in certain areas there.

Yes i have seen it but can't believe its all bad.
Problem is my work will mostly be around anchorage so im kind of limited.
Im looking for suggestions if anyone has any better ideas or area. Will have to be a comutable distance from anchorage.

Palmer is a nice place, didn't really care for Wasilla.
