That Is way to cool. I can see me and my grandsons have another trap to build this summer.
I bet a little bigger version would take pine squirrels.
I knew the griz guy wasn't the first guy to invent the DP. LOL

I wonder what might be an inexpensive source for the springs? If you find out let me know. It would be a cool project.

I wonder what might be an inexpensive source for the springs? Just looks like stiff wire

You could use a stiff bar and a small coil spring set under It and then compressed when setting.

You can get music wire on amazon, ebay, grainger and more if you google it.

I wonder what might be an inexpensive source for the springs? I have bought piano wire at hardware stoes in the past. That is what you would want for the springs. The other loop wire can be just soft annealed thin wire, also avalible at hardware stores Ace is the place! lol

Looks to be a pull trigger instead of the chew the string.

that's a top mouse trap.....I know in the far east, most of the countries there are still a bit in the stone age when it comes to trapping mice....they use sticky paper...effective but a bit cruel as it takes ages for the critter to die...I remember being kept awake all night in a cheap hotel room while some mouse was struggling on the sticky paper...I think it was in the Philippines about 10 years ago.
If there's something strange in your neighborhood and it don't look good Who you gonna call (FoxExterminator) I ain't afraid of no fox
