So,I'm familiar with subliminal messaging in marketing but not an owner of an AR. I was watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kdWUO7heOs It appears that the word (evil) is inscribed below "selector " switch? Am I reading that wrong or is there some letters being obscured. It really looks as tho someone had marked it with chalk. It appears as the camera pans out at the 1:23 mark. Just curious if that is what I'm seeing,..I had to get my strong glasses to confirm it for myself. Anyway, this is a state congressman from a rural Minnesota district running for Governor. Don't know if that link works, if you go to U tube and put in Tim Walz and select " Tim Walz changes course" If anyone can get it posted, I would appreciate it,for some reason I can't get them to stick.

Most likely the meaning refers to fighting evil not promoting it.

Whew! Thought I might be losing it!,.I don't want to be labeled. You're probably right Law Dog,although I believe it is disingenuous and intentional use considering the content of the video.

Lots of AR's have custom etched lower selector sayings. My son has one dedicated to fighting isis. Due to the rules of the forum I cant show this gun as is not very complimentary to previously mentioned. A bunch of guys in his unit had custom lowers made up stating their views.

I have a pirate lower from spikes tactical that has Parley at the safe position, Plunder at the fire position and AAAAR at the full auto position (even though this is a semi-auto receiver).
Edit: after looking at the video, the word evil was not added by anyone, it is in the full auto position in reference to full auto is "evil", probably meaning illegal.

Im hearing that ARs are about as affordable now as they'll ever be? Dealers unsure if they will get stuck with them maybe would be my guess? A good time to buy some quality uppers and stripped lowers to build a gun or two later on. Picked up 2 stripped lowers the other day from PSA for $39.00 ea.

So what does one need other than an upper and a stripped lower to build a complete rifle? Can a pretty accomplished tinker-smith put one together?
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Parts kit, stock, recoil buffer and spring few other miscellaneous items that don't come to mind without some thought and yes it you are good with puzzles and tinkering no problem there are probably a dozen videos on the subject.

So what does one need other than an upper and a stripped lower to build a complete rifle? Can a pretty accomplished tinker-smith put one together? good build video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8sY5CQmlHIif your at all handy , a video a few tools and you can do build ARs no problem a lower parts kit , it may make more sense for your first one to by a full kit , with everything but a stripped lower my first one was a PSA kit , it took the anxiety out of it I knew I would have everything I needed and I borrowed tools for my first one from a co-worker if you buy a complete upper or kit with complete upper all you need is a few punches , a 6-7 dollar spanner wrench for the castle nut and a vice block. I picked up a lower from my local dealer this week for 60 I looked at ordering a PSA when they were 39.99 but they were 39.99 but not free shipping , add in the local transfer is 20 , and the state gets 10 more for the state background check on pistol/other so it was a wash if I was only buying one , had I been buying two or more then it would save 20 dollars but at some point you need to spend some money with the local shop or you don't have a local shop

if your looking for an AR to shoot say coyotes at 250 yards with a scope, I would get a free float hand guard.
the front sling mount pulls on the barrel on non free floated hand guards it can pull rounds some opening up a group possibly pulling you of target at greater range.

Right now, I think only the PA10 .308/6.5 Creedmore receivers are worth ordering online, most local shops have stripped 5.56/multi lowers at about 50.00 and up now around here. I need a couple more before they get banned here.
The DFL governor candidates are all talking assault weapons bans if they get elected this year. I am glad to see skitzo Dayton leaving though.

So what does one need other than an upper and a stripped lower to build a complete rifle? Can a pretty accomplished tinker-smith put one together? 20 minutes once you know a few tricks on how to do battle with the springs the first time you will be cussing the parts out but it gets way easy after a few builds.
