The wringer part Is the best part. You can tighten It down and wring just about all the water out of the hide. Then take your air compressor and blow out the rest.

Wish I knew where I could find one.

ADC, when you design and build a wringer set-up, let me know....I might be in for one. laugh

I bought one this year, works great. Getting hard to find. Found mine at a second hand store for $45.00, which was a steal. Yes, the wringer is the best part.

Has anyone washed skunks in a machine to get ride of the smell? Does it work well or does the smell stay in the washing machine afterwards?

The old wringer washer works really good on those muddy coons also. I use my leaf blower to finish drying. Then tumble, flesh and board. Made a tumbler out of an old dryer, after reading the thread on here.

Thanks. Any suggestions on detergent? Only cold water I assume? I've always used cheap shampoo with conditioner in 5 gallon buckets of cold water.

I go to the Dollar Store and buy Woolite, but anything will probably work.

Do yourself a favor, and get an automatic. I washed in an old wringer machine till the motor gave out, couldn't find another, so I went with an automatic. Never go back! The spin cycle alone is worth having the machine. They come out dry enough that you just pop them a couple times and put them on the stretcher. When you turn, put on a dry stretcher, dont want to put a wet stretcher back into a dry coyote! Been doing it that way for years. Fans on at all times. I can usually turn within four hours, but will depend on the humidity in your shed.

I totally agree Lee, I will never got back to the bucket wash, spin cycle works wonders ..I found an auto for free and it ended up being about 8 years newer than the one I use in the house so just switched them out..

The main reason I went with the wringer is after trapping season, I can shut the heat off and not worry about freezing up the washer. I suppose there is a way to blow water out of an automatic. When the old wringer gives up, I'll probably go modern.

To be honest Beav Ill get a few tuff balls of fur or fat and thats aboutit between coyote and coon. Our dog bed leaves way more of a mess. Plus my clothes had way more of a stank after weldin inside of a honey wagon. Glad I gave that up.

Larry, when your done and going to turn off the heat, just pour a little RV antifreeze in it and turn on the pump for a minute, problem solved!

Lee, that is the perfect solution. Never thought of that. My motor on the washer isn't sounding so good, when it dies I will go more modern. Thanks for the tip. I have a fifth wheel camper I winterize every year, should have come up with that on my own, LOL

Good info there. That was my concern as well.... I may just put it in the unfinished part of the basement.

those motors are nothing special a standard 1/4 hrs1725rpm motor works as good as the original. I got one free that needed rehabed its a dream for washing skunks just mix up a small batch of skunk smell remover dump it in your water and agitate away

It doesn't take a wringer washer for that. Just a kitchen sink full of luke warm to cool water and some woolite will do. A two minute swish will darken that water, and lighten that coyote bigtime. Up here, they are rolling in this dark soil we have, and they seem to be a filthy animal, after looking at that water, lol. I think it's what they roll in that gets them dirty.
