I know of one person in Town, who was Boiling Maple Syrup last Season; and had the FIRE DEPARTMENT called on him. His neighbor never knew how REAL Maple Syrup is made ! He thought the Barn was on fire , from all the steam! laugh

Zim did you get some run as you tapped?

We have the cooker set up but haven't tapped any thing yet.

How does having huge amounts of rain effect maple syrup production? Does it thin the sap, making you have to boil it longer?

I wonder if all the wet weather will effect maple syrup production.

Just started tapping yesterday. We have about 400 buckets out with 100-120 to go. Should get all the taps in by Monday AM. Lot of standing water in the woods here and some running through with the rain and the frost in the ground.

No Beav, tapped 12 and not a drop. She should be good later this week if the weatherman is correct.

We went directly from freezing to heavy rain and no temps below the forties. Very short run if things don't change here.

WE do 1 4 and 5. It's amazing what you can filter out. First time we filtered I was blown away.
