I've done work for local govt , mostly beaver work. And I just got awarded the contract to pick up dead critters in a nearby city, my question is: how much work do you guys do with locàl govt, and do you solicit the work or get RFQs for it,?

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

I do skunk trapping for a few of the local towns. They will only pay for skunks. Everything else, the home owner has to pay for.

I wish townships would be more willing to pay for nuisance beaver trapping.

My township does pay a bounty on pocket gophers. No contract required. I think it's like $1.50 per tail.

I suspect many local governments aren't willing to pay, thus the lack of responses.

AJE,

I think more people have these contracts and just aren’t posting
for a myriad of reasons including throwing free info to competitors
in their area.

Though of course folks share freely here lots of info they could charge
to teach people.

There are topics where it’s a little too specific in terms of how you found
the work and how it gets put up for bid, etc...

I may be wrong but know enough companies in our industry that have
contracts with towns, cities, states and others to believe I’m correct.

Just my .02

I suspect HD is on to something. I get quite a bit of business from local govt, even state and federal once in a while. Beaver, nutria, gophers, squirrels and more.

I have one contract with a township for beaver control. I just watch the culverts and when I see a problem start I take care of it. Send a bill and get payed.
Aphis has the contracts with most all the townships and the county. Lately they have been raising their price so some towns are looking for other options.

A buck and a half a tail does sound like Wisconsin. I imagine the competition for pocket gophers is really stiff!

I have a spot in the neighboring township that is absolutely loaded with pocket gophers, but that township won't pay for them. Sometimes the farmers will kick in enough to cover a persons gas though.

How do you find out what townships offer bounties in Wisconsin?

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

I don't trap for a living but I'm lucky as my county pays $3.00 per pocket gopher. Occasionally the farmer will kick in a little bit but most of the time I refuse payment for letting me trap other animals in the fall. It usually doesn't take long for word to get out and I have all the work I want.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I don't think there's a list.
