I haven't been able to find a answer directly to my question: what are the dimensions for a nutria stretcher? I found a description of such and such width at the neck, shoulder, flanks, etc. but that implies some sort of distance from the end of the board which was not provided. And if you have trapped nutria then you know there is a lot of variability in the size of nutria. This one laying on the beam is 32":

So, does anyone have those dimensions or can simply point me in the right direction where I can find them? I will cut my own from wood once I know the measurements.

Hal has them. Also, Google nutria streatchers dimensions. A link for Hal's info is there.

I searched again and found the same answer: 4.5" at the ears, 5.5" at the shoulder, and 5.75" at the base. I can figure it out from there but clearly there is a lot of room for error.

I also know that ultimately it doesn't matter, but I'd like to make some that are the best fit for a variety of sizes. My fear is if I measure for such a large nute, then it won't fit medium or smaller sizes. On the other hand I only skinned the biggest ones I caught this year.

I'm probably putting too much thought into it.

Mine are 5" straight, round nose. Remember that the belly is the important side.

Yup, belly side is very important. And you don't need an inspection window. smile

Ok, that is helpful.

Good to know. The buyer I have lined up wants a certain nose count to be tanned for wallhangers so this go round might not matter.

All mine are 5.5 inches (at the skirt) and I put up all of my nutria up on the same board. Anything that isn't going to make 26" doesn't get skinned.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
