Been hearing good things about using 7x19 cable for snare extensions. Ran out of the 3/32nds 7x7 I've been using and thought I would give 7x19 a try. For coyotes I use a 5/64 1x19 snare just long enough to make my loop, quick linked to a barrel swivel on the end of various length extension cables with an adjustable loop end to tie off. For those that use similar setups, what size 7x19 do you like? I seem to only get one or two uses out of 7x7 extension cables before they are kinked up enough to make coiling and carrying them difficult without snarling up the whole snare bag.

Should I stick with the 3/32nds I used for 7x7, or will a thicker (1/8?) 7x19 give me more uses?

7X19 is a softer cable that doesn't kink as badly.
I use 1/8 for beaver drowners and tie offs for cat traps, 3/32 for coon drowners. As soon as my old 7X7 extensions expire 7X19 of 3/32 size will be on my snares as well. It has worked great for drowners and should do just as well on snares. I wax all of my tie offs and drowners for longer life, may do the snare extensions as well.

I have 12' extension/drowners made from 7x19 1/8" cable. Coyotes and beaver havent kinked one yet.

As I'm sure you know, the first number is the number of bundles and the second number is the number of strands per bundle. 7x19 is 7 bundles of 19 strands. The strands are tiny, and the cable is very flexible. It's also more forgiving when it comes to kinks. It makes great extension cables. I get many uses out of 1/8" 7x19 extensions. With earth anchors, 7x19 also works well. It doesn't want to stand at attention the way that 1x19 does.

I'm told that 7x19 is also used for foot snares, the ones with the launcher, presumably because the loop can close so tightly. "Wire rope" accurately describes 7x19 cable in my opinion.
OK , Thanx for the info .. I may try some .
